Toyota GR86 will release as included base content for iRacing in 2023 Season 1

We have our first bit of new content news for iRacing this Wednesday morning in the US.

The official iRacing account tweeted to their community to welcome the new Toyota GR86 at 10:00 am, and a few minutes later, iRacing Executive Vice President Steve Myers quote tweeted it and said it would not only be included in the December update, but also included in the iRacing base package.

Simply put, the December update should be referencing the iRacing 2023 Season 1 build, and base package means that the car is included with membership to the service. How about that.

This isn’t totally breaking news, as we did learn in June that the car would eventually be coming to the service for 2023 through a Toyota Gazoo Racing North America announcement.

The car was born in the Toyota Racing Development site in Mooresville, North Carolina. It comes from the modification of a stock GR86 and includes a 6-speed sequential transmission, a 22-gallon fuel cell, specific body work and tons of race ready components. More details are on the Toyota Racing website.

One piece of speculation from the image posted by iRacing is that this could be a double teaser. We do know that if a previous announcement still means to be true, that the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours is also expected to release before the end of 2022.

Eagle-eyed iRacing forum posters pointed out that the grandstands in the background of the GR86 are ones that can be seen in Turn 1 at Magny-Cours. While the only confirmation on anything that we have is from Steve Myers about the GR86, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this new track in the build either.

iRacing Week 13 starts next week, and the new build for 2023 Season 1 is expected to drop during that. We’ll keep you updated here at Traxion.GG as more information becomes available.

Well, I guess this new tweet from iRacing confirms that we were indeed looking at Magny-Cours!
