On Wednesday, Toyota Gazoo Racing North America unveiled their new race vehicle for the new GR Cup racing series that was announced earlier this year.
The vehicle is a 2023 edition of the Toyota GR86 Cup Car. With the announcement of the car, the Toyota website also revealed the car will be coming to iRacing in 2023.
Born in the new Toyota Racing Development site in Mooresville, North Carolina, the GR86 Cup Car comes from the modification of a stock GR86.
In the race car, they’ll put the works into it, including things like a 6-speed sequential transmission, a 22-gallon fuel cell, specific body work and tons of race ready components. You can see the more complete list of modifications on the Toyota Racing website.
iRacing hasn’t publicly said anything yet about this revelation, but then again, this is coming next year and right now they are pretty focused on getting all of the 2022 Season 3 content ready for action next week.
There are iRacers talking about it on the iRacing forums already, though, so there’s already some speculating about where this fits into the dichotomy of iRacing content.
