Today we are trying out Gran Turismo 7’s new v1.26 update, featuring headline-grabbing upgrades such as the Road Atlanta circuit, the ability to sell cars and the addition of four new vehicles.

John explains the car valuation service in detail first of all, and how car prices can go up or down over time. What he doesn’t explain, however, is how he managed to purchase two identical Christian Dior-liveried DeTomaso Mangustas…

Then we move onto Road Atlanta and a lap time battle between the 1987 Ford Sierra RS 500 Cosworth, the 1996 Nissan Silvia K’s Aero (S14) and the 2018 BMW M2 Competition – three of the new cars added to GT7 in v1.26.

Road Atlanta makes a very welcome debut in the Gran Turismo series and is a personal favourite of John’s, evoking dramatic memories of Petit Le Mans’ gone past. Who can forget Nick Tandy’s epic drive in wet conditions to take the win against the prototypes in a GT car?

Are modern sports saloons better than those from the ‘80s and ‘90s though? Well, yes. Years of development mean modern cars feature supreme performance and better lap times, but can the old-timers still provide an enjoyable driving experience?
