Imagine what a GT3 car’s steering wheel may look like in 2034 – that’s what Moza Racing’s latest Vision GS sim racing steering wheel apes, except it’s here right now.
First previewed in prototype form at the German Gamescom event last August, the final iteration is complete and the radical device is now on sale.
Slap bang in the middle of the design is a 60Hz 2.85-inch circular touch screen which the Chinese manufacturer claims with keep displayed information horizontal during turning thanks to a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and built-in gyroscope.
This particular round display system reminds us of Fanatec’s ill-fated Bentley GT3 wheel, which has not yet made series production.
The display’s layout can be altered using matching PC software to a user’s preference, or 10 presets can be selected. Multiple data screens are scrolled through by swiping the screen – although those who wear gloves to sim racing may want to take them off first.
Alongside the screen are eight backlit buttons (which allegedly can be customised from a staggering 16.7 million colour combinations) plus a seven-way ‘funky switch’, universal joystick, rotary encoders and thumb encoders. At the top is an illuminated rev indicator.
Around the back sit two further buttons abutting forged carbon fibre magnetic gearshift paddles. Moza claims that the grips are “hand-stitched microfiber leather” and that the chassis is CNC aluminium alloy.
The 310mm wide steering wheel will work with any matching Moza Racing wheel base on PC, or other brand’s bases with an optional adaptor.
It costs €829 minus any local taxes and shipping.
