José Serrano has won both championships he has entered this season, taking the Nations Cup a day after securing the Manufacturers Cup title for Porsche alongside Shota Sato and Angel Inostroza.
It was a near-total domination by the Spanish driver, winning both races and the Grand Final with seemingly consummate ease.
In the first test, the now four-time World Series champion held resisted a determined Kylian Drumont. Around Spa-Francorchamps, there was a mix of old vs. new Gr.1 machinery, Serrano just keeping ahead in a diesel Peugeot of the French driver in the classic Nissan.
Race 2, however, would not be as close, with the eventual 2025 champion stretching a lead of over 5 seconds in the F3500-B single-seater.
Heading into the traditional Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition-equipped race, this time seven laps around the Nürburgring Nordschleife (24h), Serrano was in the best possible position to claim another victory.

Which he duly delivered, mastering the varied strategy options to win every race on the day – passing reigning champion and home favourite Takuma Miyazono along the way.
Dashed dreams
Several other drivers encountered their own challenges on the way.
Kaj de Bruin had qualified in pole position for the opening race, only to receive contact at La Source on the first lap, and then even more the next lap at the same corner, dropping down the order. Thomas Labouteley pitted during this race and then didn’t take part for the rest of the event.

Drumont’s challenge went south after contact with Pol Urra at the start of Race 2 – the Spaniard received a penalty for the incident and would eventually finish third overall.
Miyazono, meanwhile, was close in every race, fighting back to a podium in Race 1 using the Mazda 787B, but not managing to eclipse Serrano – the dominant champion standing on his race seat to celebrate at the end of the event.

The Gran Turismo World Series returns in 2026 with the first round in Abu Dhabi, and during this Nations Cup broadcast, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR was confirmed for a future Gran Turismo 7 game update.
