Genesis launches Le Mans Ultimate esports series, full-time pro sim racing drive up for grabs

The Genesis Magma Racing Esports Series hopes to find the quickest Le Mans Ultimate drivers later this year with an in-game competition.

The full prize list is to be announced, but one driver will be offered the opportunity to become a full-time GMR Esports Driver for the 2027 Season.

A possible real-world Genesis Magma Racing (GMR) Trajectory Programme opportunity is also under consideration, but remains to be confirmed.

The car manufacturer entered the real-world FIA World Endurance Championship this season with its GMR-001. A striking V8-powered machine in the Hypercar category, it was added for free to LMU before the season began, showcasing the close relationship between Genesis and sim racing.

This will now be taken a step further, with the in-game competition and hunt for rising virtual racing talent.

Two phases, live broadcasts

The competition will effectively be split into two. There are qualifying races followed by four more in the main GMR Esports Series. These championship-deciding races for the top 30 drivers (20 global, 10 Korean) will be broadcast live on Traxion.GG and Genesis Magma Racing channels.

The qualifying phase will be held using Le Mans Ultimate online championships, a mode usually reserved for RaceControl Pro or Pro+ subscribers only. However, following a recent game update, it will be open to all who would like to enter the Genesis Magma Racing Esports Series for no additional fee.

In fact, there is also no premium DLC content used during all eight weeks of the qualifying races. Each week will have one round, and drivers can have up to three attempts at each race to deliver their best score. Their two worst weekly results will be dropped.

Entry information

Sim racers can register for participation via Traxion’s dedicated event hub, which will be updated with further information closer to, and after, the races. The events will be found natively within Le Mans Ultimate.
