Danish sim racing hardware manufacturer Asetek has announced it will be expanding its range of steering wheels, pedals and other hardware, with CEO André Eriksen showcasing the company’s new products in a video presentation.

Fresh from releasing new black versions of its La Prima GT and Formula button boxes, Asetek is also updating its Forte Formula and GT variants. Firmware to unlock full usage of each wheel’s paddles will also be released as a free download to all Asetek customers (for example, the Invicta’s carbon fibre paddles can now be fitted to a budget La Prima steering wheel and still be functional).

The new button boxes will also feature the robust aluminium buttons and encoders found on the firm’s high-end Invicta wheels, retailing for €/$ 259.99 and €/$ 234.99 respectively. Customers can also upgrade the buttons and kinky switches on their Asetek wheels by purchasing aluminium hop-up parts in six different colours.

Dished Suede Rim

Asetek also revealed a new 340mm-wide Dished Suede Rim, compatible with its button boxes and ideal for virtual rallying or drifting. The advantage to its dished shape is that when a button box is fitted it will sit flush inside the rim, preventing players from accidentally pressing any buttons while moving it at speed.

Customers will now also be able to choose which handles they receive with their Formula Steering Wheel button boxes, with a choice of LMP, Regular Formula, XL Formula or suede grips currently available.

La Prima wheelbase upgrade

A new upgrade package will be made available to Asetek’s La Prima wheelbase customers, enhancing its torque figure from 12 Nm up to 16 Nm.

The non-invasive upgrade takes the form of a beefier power supply and firmware download. This will be on sale initially at the introductory price of €/$ 149.99.

Third-party wheelbase QR adapter

For sim racers who don’t own an Asetek wheelbase but wish to try out its range of steering wheels, a new USB-enabled quick-release system has been developed.

Costing €/$ 119.99, the Asetek quick-release hub can be mounted to any manufacturer’s wheelbase that features a standardised bolt pattern. Players will naturally be able to use the Asetek steering wheel of their choice alongside the firm’s RaceHub software package.

iRacing 360 Hz support

Asetek has been working with iRacing to implement the sim racing service’s 360 Hz force feedback across all its wheelbases. This will likely arrive as a firmware upgrade alongside iRacing’s Season 2 2025 build on Tuesday 11th March 2025.

The upgrade should provide smoother and more detailed force feedback for all Asetek wheelbase owners and will arrive as a free update.

Invicta THORP 2 pedals

Asetek’s THORP (Twin Hydraulic Opposing Rapid Pistons) technology has been updated to version 2 and will be released on the manufacturer’s Invicta Pedals in future.

THORP2 is designed to allow more brake pedal travel, with options to reach the second stage of braking using less force. It does this via a long travel kit and different elastomers, which will be available to customers who own the original Invicta pedal sets.

Using THROP 2. it will also be possible to change elastomers while still in your rig, with access now available from the front of the unit rather than the rear.

The new system will be compatible with Astek’s upcoming hydraulic haptic feedback mechanism too, allowing ABS-style forces. The Danish company’s pedal haptics are still in development, however, with no firm details available yet.

THORP2 options will be available on both the standard Invicta pedals as well as the high-end Invicta S Series, priced at €/$ 799.99 and €/$ 849.99 respectively.

Console compatibility and Initium cockpit

Asetek also unveiled its more affordable line of Initium hardware, showcasing its entry-level Initium cockpit.

Designed for Xbox and PC compatibility, the Initium series of products will sit below Asetek’s current La Prima starting point, with the Initium cockpit set to retail for €/$399.99.

Announcements on more Initium products, including release dates and prices, are expected shortly.
