Over three years after it was announced, Fanatec’s long-awaited Bentley GT3 steering wheel is finally in stock and available to order.
While it was first announced in June 2021, the Fanatec Podium Steering Wheel Bentley GT3 was initially pushed back to Q1 or Q2 2023 due to issues with the digital display before further delays.
Part of Fanatec’s flagship Podium range and developed in collaboration with Bentley Motors Limited, the wheel was used in the real-life Continental GT3 Pikes Peak that tackled the famous 12.42-mile hillclimb three years ago when it attempted to break the record for a renewable-fuelled car.
Compatible with PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the wheel features a 310-mm diameter rim with Alcantara grips and a 5 mm-thick carbon fibre front plate with a unique green weave.
A circular 3.4-inch touch-screen display dominates the centre, providing telemetry and performance data. This is directly connected to the steering shaft to stay level, as opposed to a gyroscope. However, it does use gyro when used as a fancy desk stand.
Elsewhere, the wheel boasts four magnetic paddles based on the Bentley Continental GT production car, with two for gear shifting and two that can be mapped, plus two analogue clutch paddles and a pair of aluminium thumb wheels.
Four CNC-machined aluminium rotary encoders are also included, along with two seven-way ‘FunkySwitch’ directional sticks and eight snap-dome buttons.
Depending on the quick release installed, the Bentley GT3 wheel fits current Fanatec wheelbases such as the CSL DD, Gran Turismo DD Pro, and ClubSport DD.
Available to order worldwide on Fanatec’s website, the Podium Steering Wheel Bentley GT3 is priced at €1,999.95 plus shipping, with deliveries expected within four to seven days.
Fanatec’s premium Bentley GT3 wheel was on display at the ADAC SimRacing Expo 2024 alongside a host of new product reveals, including the CSL Elite Steering Wheel Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, the ClubSport V2 Handbrake, and a rebranded cockpit.
