Star Wars: Galactic Racer has received its first quality-of-life update over two weeks after it launched to considerable fanfare.

While the fast-paced futuristic racer has received rave reviews,  one of the most common criticisms is its small multiplayer party sizes. When joining a match, players could only invite up to two friends to join their multiplayer party.

In response to frequent player requests, this has increased to six in a welcome patch update. As a result, larger groups of friends can enter Multiplayer Tour matches. Inspired by the roguelite campaign, each Tour features multiple rounds, where you bet on rivals and earn parts to upgrade your vehicle and prepare it for the final race.

Why Star Wars Galactic Racer won’t support split-screen multiplayer

In addition, the update also adds new keyboard layout presets to support AZERTY keys and left or right-handed play in response to player feedback about the lack of key rebinding options.

“We know that the lack of key rebinding support in the game is impacting the experience of our mouse & keyboard players,” Fuse Games wrote in the patch notes. “This is the first step we want to take towards addressing this feedback.”

The developer added that key rebinding is “on the horizon” and is planned for a future update.

The update also introduces several other changes and improvements, including an increase to the number of credits received when online multiplayer in the middle of a Tour and stability fixes:

  • An increase to the number of credits you receive when you join mid-Tour in online multiplayer from 4,000 to 6,000.
  • Transition tidy-ups for Spectator camera view in multiplayer.
  • Removal of the option to ‘Exit the game’ in the multiplayer menu on PC to stop accidental quits.
  • A number of party stability fixes.
  • A fix for a PS5 connection issue.
  • A fix for an issue that would cause an AMD Frame Interpolation game crash.
