If you are presently playing Gran Turismo 7, grinding your way through the events to earn more credits – good news!

There are currently several limited-time ways to earn further credits or unlock cars, over and about the regular methods.

This is thanks to the upcoming Gran Turismo World Series event in Prague. Held on Saturday 10th August, this is the second in-person round for Sony’s pinnacle virtual motorsport competition.

To celebrate, and promote the event, developer Polyphony Digital has added extra events or increased the prize payout, which could benefit all Gran Turismo 7 drivers.

Here’s what you need to know, and when to enter to claim your rewards.

Bonus Lap Time Challenge – in-game credits

A ‘Lap Time Challenge’ is GT7 parlance for a time trial with an online leaderboard. Usually, each lasts two weeks, and two run at a time, one ending a week before the other.

Currently, however, a third challenge has been added within Sport Mode, replicating some of the conditions expected during the upcoming World Series event.

It started on 1st August and is open now until the early hours of 15th (7:59 am BST).

Gran Turismo 7 Lap Time Challenge Prague Red Bull Ring

Set a lap time here – a wet Red Bull Ring in a Gr.3 car – and you can win up to 2,000,000 credits when it ends in nine days.

Briefly, the goals move based on the world’s quickest time. Simply set a time within three per cent of the record, and you will score gold and that means the two million credits. Fail to do so, however, and fear not, you could still pick up some bonus cash.

Within five per cent nets silver and one million credits, and the straightforward bronze time is within a massive 20 per cent of the best – and still generates 500,000 credits. You could earn that by simply completing one or two clean laps as a minimum.

Prizes:

  • Set a lap time within 3% of the world’s best – Gold, 2,000,000 credits
  • Set a lap time within 5% of the world’s best – Silver, 1,000,000 credits
  • Set a lap time within 20% of the world’s best – Bronze, 500,000 credits

Challenge dates:

  • 1st August – 15th August 2024 07:59 BST

This particular Lap Time Challenge sits as part of a five-event roster presently, with two ‘regular’ time trials and two for the Honda esports competition – so get hot lapping and reap the rewards!

Sport Mode Daily Races modifier – in-game credits

Another challenge within Sport Mode, Daily Race C has its reward increased by a massive 600%.

These are ranked multiplayer races on a schedule, where you will be paired with similarly skilled drivers.

These races do lack a ‘reward menu’ like a lap time challenge, but rarely do they pay out as many credits.

For example, we had a torrid race, finished in 11th out of 12 and still picked up 63,300 credits for our poor effort.

You can enter the race every 30 minutes, and finishing higher in the results equates to greater amounts of credits. It’s around the Eiger Nordwand venue in the spikey Honda RA272 F1 car for a paltry seven laps – much shorter than the usual Race C format.

This format will be available until early Monday morning, 12th August 2024 or late night 11th August depending on your time zone.

Race information:

  • Sport Mode, Race C, Honda RA272, Eiger Nordwand, seven laps

Challenge date:

  • 5th August 2024 – 11th August 2024

Winners Campaign – in-game credits

This one is much less certain to net you an in-game prize, but for the sake of pressing two buttons and about one minute of your time, it would be madness not to enter.

At the top right of the main home screen, you will see a ‘Winners Campaign’ banner.

Here you must correctly predict the winning driver of Prague’s Nations Cup final race and the same for the adjacent Manufacturers Cup event.
