Following the recent news that two DLC packs, enhanced AI performance and updated weather effects are in development for Automobilista 2 comes at least two further new cars and a host of additional improvements.

A second development update by developer Reiza Studios has lifted the lid on increased grid sizes for single-player. While multiplayer will remain at 32 vehicles, those with more than 12GB of PC memory will be able to enjoy up to 48 cars (on tracks with big enough pit garage areas) once version 1.6 is complete.

The creation team is also working on enhancements to multiplayer performance. Not so much in terms of features, but the technology powering it.

According to Studio Head Renato Simioni, vehicle packet send rates will be reduced by up to 75 per cent, and tweaks to a function that led to mass disconnections. The aim has been to help third-party multiplayer providers such as Low Fuel Motorsports, JustRace, and RaceCraft Online.

Visual enhancements have previously been detailed, and purportedly v1.6 will not be the end of graphical updates. However, it will bring with it glowing exhausts, trackside pyrotechnic (fireworks), tyres and trees becoming visibility wet when it trains and an increased number of 3D trees.

As previously discussed, racing lines are set to be more important than ever in the rain, but also after 1.6, the wet tyres are said to perform to a higher level – dissipating water more effectively through puddles.

Lamborghini?

In several of the teaser images shared by Reiza on its forum, you can spot Lamborghinis – a brand not yet in the simulator.

We can spot a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the distance, lapping the banking and in at least three images the Raging Bull’s IMSA GTP challenge the SC63.

There’s no formal mention of this in the update. A third development blog is expected soon. “Not many corners remaining on this road so it won´t take too long for Pt3 to come around,” signs off Simioni.

A release date for the update and matching DLC (which should include at least the Alpine A424, Audis, LMP2s, the latest Corvette GT3, Road Atlanta and Sebring) is not yet known.
