While the race winners list continues to expand in DTM Esports for 2025, the McLaren of Isaac Price continues to rack up podium finishes.

Tim Jarschel and Alessandro Ottaviani took victories in the RaceRoom DTM Esports Championship at the Norisring to make it four different winners from the first four races.

While Isaac Price took pole twice, and was probably more pleased with this round than anyone from a championship points perspective, it wasn’t to be for him, as he came out on the wrong side of two late race battles.

Race 1

Price’s first pole came alongside reigning champion Jarschel, and the two coordinated the awkward dance through turn one at the Norisring well on the opening lap.

After two laps of single-file running, Jarschel got a good run onto the front straight to easily take the lead into turn one on lap three, with his Porsche looking very strong early in race trim.

A huge battle for third place ensued around Lucas Müller and Ottaviani, with the Italian eventually coming out on top, allowing the top two to stretch an even bigger lead, and fight amongst themselves for the race win.

Price would pile the pressure on, especially in the final two laps, but Jarschel’s defensive lines into just about every corner were enough for the win, ahead of the British driver.

Race 2

However, minutes later, the race one winner would have a disastrous second qualifying session, ending up 16th with no hope of another win. Price would again take pole, and is starting to make a case that he is the qualifier to beat this season.

This time, Ottaviani would take up the spot next to the lone McLaren and would successfully navigate that same tight hairpin on the opening lap. Müller was again involved in the battle for third, although this time with others around him, but it was the same outcome for the front two – a large lead to battle it out for the win.

Philipp Drayss, making the first stop of race two, provided some interesting insight, as it became clear that drivers would go a lap down after their pitstop and end up in lead lap traffic because of the incredibly short lap at the Norisring.

Price pitted from the lead with six minutes to go, just in front of Bence Banki in clear air, with Ottaviani responding the very next lap.

It was close, but there was no change to the running order, and an extremely short amount of time for the Italian to work out a way through. Much like Price did to Jarschel in race one, though, Ottaviani heaped the pressure on.

A great run into the first corner provided his first chance, and a switchback gave him the outside again at turn two. Price responded with a switchback of his own, giving him the momentum into the final turn, but broke too late and hit the side of Ottaviani at the final corner.

Price’s poor run onto the front straight gave the Italian his first win of the season, but another second place banked was great for his points tally. He’s certainly the one to watch when the season rolls into the Nurburgring in a fortnight.
