It’s a big week for The Crew Motorfest. Tomorrow (6th November), Season 5 will bring a new map to explore set on the volcanic island of Maui in a free update, along with two new playlists, a host of quality-of-life improvements, and 28 new cars in the Year 2 Pass.
On top of that, the Chase Squad premium DLC will add a pursuit mode with you chasing down street racers in modified cop cars.
That’s not all though, because Ubisoft’s open-world racer will also be enhanced for Sony’s upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro in time for the console’s launch this week.
Thanks to the console’s extra horsepower, The Crew Motorfest will boast increased visual detail, sharper visual quality, and smoother performance on PS5 Pro when it launches on 7th November.
Thanks to Sony’s AI upscaler known as the ‘Playstation Spectral Super Resolution’ (PSSR), Motorfest wll run at a higher 1696p resolution on average in race events while targeting 4K and 60fps in the new PS5 Pro mode.
This is a step up over standard PS5’s performance mode, which runs at 1440p resolution and 30fps, with Digital Foundry calling the improved image quality and detail a “very worthwhile upgrade” in a recent hands-on.
Furthermore, the environment will be denser with up to 15% more geometry rendered on-screen, 15% more foliage in forests and off-road areas, and more crowds spectating races. Sadly, there still won’t be any pedestrians roaming the streets. Shadows and terrain textures will also get a quality boost, and reflective surfaces will be more detailed.
Retailing for £699.99 / $699.99 / €799.99, the PS5 Pro goes on sale on 7th November, with a patch update for The Crew Motorfest available to download on launch day.
Along with The Crew Motorfest, F1 24 will receive a PS5 Pro upgrade on day one, while Gran Turismo 7’s PS5 Pro update with 8K support is expected sometime in November.
