It’s a small feature, but an immersion-robber. Sure, The Crew Motorfest is never aiming to be a realistic driving game, but blurring out the rear-view mirrors in all vehicles takes you out of a world that is at least grounded in reality.
A shame, because the Ivory Tower development team went through the trouble of replicating car interiors and integrating inside customisation options. There are even arm-over-arm animations during a drift.
However, this quirk will be banished to the history books (for some players) when the Season 5 festivities kick off in Motorfest next week.
At last, functioning rear-view mirrors will be added. This will work on PC, PlayStation 5. PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. The feature was initially announced as part of the PS5 Pro’s upgrade, but the mirrors will also (mercifully) be present on the regular PS5 and contemporary Xbox devices.
Those playing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, however, will miss out.
Historically, working rear-view mirrors in a cockpit camera viewpoint can be a drain on frame rates – so we shall see how Motorfest holds up when the update arrives on 6th November 2024.
The ability to merge vehicle parts, easing the ability to unlock legendary-rated items, will also be possible. Custom mode will allow drivers to effectively remix existing playlists. Doing so will unlock prestige tickets used to purchase prior Summit Contest rewards.
They will join a new, free, island of Maui, plus optional DLC in the form of a Chase Squad mode and fresh cars.
