Registering for an iRacing.com account yields a standard membership to the service, and that allows users the ability to access all things iRacing. On top of the subscription, members can purchase tracks, cars, race servers and third-party applications, which can all add up for a more complete and more expensive experience.
Let’s say you’re on the fence about trying iRacing and you don’t want to spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars off the bat. What, then, comes with the standard subscription? As of 2022 Season 4, here’s what you’ll get if you opt to give the service a go in a trial period with a basic subscription.
INCLUDED CARS
There are four different license classifications on iRacing, and with such, there needs to be included content for new members to get through the rookie ranks. Oval, Road, Dirt Oval and Dirt Road are those disciplines, and as such, you’ll find enough content to satisfy advancement requirements.
Most of the vehicles you’ll find are mainly specified for road racing, but who is to say you can’t take a Volkswagen Jetta and run an oval track with it?

INCLUDED TRACKS
Like the vehicles above, there are enough tracks to satisfy any license requirements to go from a Rookie license to a Class D license. Of course, once you start dabbling in Class D license level racing, you’ll likely need to start purchasing more content to continue to compete.
Some of the free tracks have multiple configurations that may be utilized in different licenses. For example, Charlotte Motor Speedway has an Oval, a Road Course and a Rallycross configuration for the Dirt Road license. There’s also Centripetal Circuit on this list, but that’s unfortunately not used anywhere on the service except in single player testing.

WHAT TO DO WITH THE INCLUDED CONTENT
Obviously, racing online with other members in the rookie ranks to build up your license level is the most common practice when starting out on iRacing, but there are more things to partake in that’s included.
Hosted Sessions and League Racing are both ways to compete online against others by unofficial means. Of course, you’ll only be able to join races that are using the included content.
Same with AI Racing, a part of the service that is relatively new, but more and more pieces of content are being added build after build. You’ll notice that in the tables above, I’ve included a column to signify whether a piece of content can be used with the iRacing AI. While it’s still a work in progress, iRacing AI is a great way to get track time and learn how to iRace in a non-online setting.
The iRacing UI also allows for car design and will provide templates for the vehicles you possess. There are pre-made bases with a list of sponsors to choose from already built in, but customization is also a possibility if you’ve got the means with something like GIMP or Photoshop.
Finally, of course if you decide to continue onward with your iRacing career, you can purchase content at any time and it will be a part of your library probably forever, unless iRacing decides to retire or replace the content, in which there may be some sort of credit deal in place so that you get some return for it.
