For a racing game with a single-player component, the performance of your AI rivals is crucial. Games like RaceRoom and Assetto Corsa Competizione seem to get the balance of aggression and proactiveness just right. Even esports-focussed platform iRacing recently added AI racing for GT3 cars.
TOCA Race Driver 3 however doesn’t quite nail the balance. There are times, like in episode four of our journey where the rivals are way too quick – particularly during rallycross events. Then there are other times when the aggression is way overboard. You will see such an example in our latest episode of our ‘Let’s play TOCA Race Driver 3’ video series, where I get absolutely mullered by my rivals.
Not much World Tour progress is made this time around as I go up against one of the sterner tests. Will I acquire enough points to progress? You’ll have to watch the episode to find out.
Watch episode five of our TOCA Race Driver 3 playthrough and let us know via social media what you would like to see in episode six. You can also watch episodes one, two, three and four.
