A new Gran Turismo 7 promotional video featuring car-related personalities has revealed a GT Sport player stat titbit.
The ‘GT CAFE with Five Automotive Experts’ by PlayStation interviews Sung Kang, Toni Breidinger, Jon Sibal, 13th Witness and Adam LZ about their hands-on experiences about the upcoming Gran Turismo 7.
As promotional videos go, this is a bit cookie-cutter, with talk about realism, track authenticity, the photo mode and next-gen capabilities all mentioned.
The presentation highlights that the GReddy Fugu Z – a modified 240Z built by actor Kang and winner of the 2015 SEMA Gran Turismo Awards – is in the in-game GT Sport garage of 1.2 million players, based upon data up to the 10th January 2022.
“That’s amazing. [It’s] like Fugu Z has had 1.2 million babies,” said the Fast & Furious star.
This is an important statistic because allow car manufacturers to see how many people not only own the game but have specifically earned or purchased a car delivers more meaningful engagement feedback.
Further player information can only improve the relationships between game developers and car manufacturers, with the cost of licencing vehicles often a sticking point.
This number is particularly impressive, as the GReddy Fugu Z was added to GT Sport in December 2018, some 14 months after the game’s initial launch in October 2017.
Gran Turismo 7 launches on the 4th March 2022 and we’ll have our full written and video review at 11.01 am GMT, 2nd March 2022.
