The first new track that makes up part of Gran Turismo 7’s Spec IV update will be showcased in full this coming weekend.
Sugo International Racing Course, a real-world Japanese venue making its Gran Turismo series debut, will be used for qualifying and a sprint race at the upcoming Gran Turismo World Series event.
The competition, which sees the world’s best GT7 drivers face off, is split into two competitions: Manufacturers Cup (a team event) and Nations Cup (a solo driver event). The third of four rounds is in Singapore for the next event.
Alongside the racing, Series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi has promised further details on the upcoming Spec IV update:
“We will share more details about the Spec IV update during the Gran Turismo World Series event on October 3, so please stay tuned,” he said in a recent promotional trailer.
A release date is not yet known, other than a two phase October and December rollout. Sugo, while confirmed, hasn’t yet been shown in full.
Therefore, the Nations Cup race will be the first opportunity to see the venue in action. The competitors will be using the Super Formula 2023.
An appropriate car selection, as the real-world SF championship races at the venue, so too Super GT. Both are motorsport series that Gran Turismo star, Igor Fraga, competes in.
The Grand Final race will follow for the Nations Cup, although that will use Circuit de Sainte-Croix – B Reverse and the traditional Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competition vehicle.
Earlier in the day, the Manufacturers Cup will use Autodrome Lago Maggiore – Full Course Reverse and Gr.3 cars.
The Gran Turismo World Series is commonly used to announce new game updates, vehicles, features and tracks, with news expected across the weekend. At the last round, for example, the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo was unveiled.
