Another throwback to the glory years of international GT racing is coming to Project Motor Racing, and it’s one for motorsport aficionados.
Although previously teased via real-world promotional footage, the Marcos LM600 has now been seen running in-game for the first time (see below), and its exhaust note sounds suitably menacing.
Conceived in 1995 as a GT2 car, originally raced in the British GT Championship (winning its class) before embarking upon a BPR Global GT Series campaign and the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. A GT1-spec version of the car made a one-race cameo in British GT but was never raced in anger again.
The brainchild of English firm Marcos Engineering, which made classic road cars like the Mantis, Mini Marcos and the 1800GT, the LM600 is based on the Mantara road car and features a naturally aspirated V8 engine.
Although it looks unwieldy, the LM600 packed a punch against its better-funded opponents, and it sounded glorious thanks to its Chevrolet-derived motor (which also contributes to vision-obscuring hump on the bonnet).
Probably best-known as Dutch racer Cor Euser’s weapon of choice over many seasons, the LM600 was the successor to the LM400 and LM600 models, and claimed class wins in the BPR series at Jarama and Silverstone, with Euser eventually taking on full control of the company’s race programme.
