  • New Lamborghini Temerario added to ‘Track Day’ class
  • Mods will be downloaded automatically when joining custom multiplayer lobbies
  • GT3, GT4 and LMDh physics tweaks.
  • Improved weather and rendering systems

A new update is available for Project Motor Racing, with developer Straight4 Studios adding more fixes and content to its beleaguered title.

Lamborghini Temerario

Lamborghini’s Temerario road car arrives in-gameas part of the game’s free V2.3 update, and features in an all-new category: Track Day (it’s perhaps reasonable to expect more additions to the category in future).

The Sant’Agata manufacturer’s four-wheel-drive Temerario ditches its sonorous V10 engine for a high-revving V8. Combined with three electric motors, the car produces over 900 bhp, so it’s a bit of a beast.

Its trick four-wheel-steering system has also made the jump to the virtual world, with PMR simulating its operation. Under 75 kph, the rear wheels can turn up to three degrees in the opposite direction to the fronts, tightening the car’s turning circle.

ModHub improvements

Players joining a custom lobby featuring mods previously had to install these manually via the game’s ModHub. However, from V2.3 onwards, missing mods will be identified and installed automatically when joining the server, offering a handy bit of labour-saving.

ModHub also includes a search function and offers multi-class support for career mode.

Physics updates

As ever, Straight4 has indicated that the GT3, GT4, and LMDh classes have received physics tweaks in the latest PMR update, with cold-temperature grip levels and on-the-limit feel rebalanced. This includes changes to their aerodynamics and pitch sensitivity.

Visual updates

Improved weather and rendering systems should deliver better environmental lighting and make it easier to pick out details at night.

Straight4 suggests that ‘changes made to tone-mapping have improved luminance mapping, contrast response and colour reproduction across the full dynamic range’ should offer more consistent visual fidelity no matter the weather or time of day, with a focus on improving transitions between day and night.

Telemetry

User Datagram Protocol (UDP) telemetry output has been added to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

In theory, this lets players connect PMR’s telemetry output to an external device on your home network, so you can display your driving data on a separate screen to help you analyse your performance.

UDP telemetry also lets displays on some steering wheel peripherals work correctly, and potential SimHub compatibility offers further data-display options.

The full changelog for PMR’s V2.3 update is listed below.

Project Motor Racing, Version 2.3 changelog

  • New car added along with multiple fixes and improvements.
  • This new update introduces a new car, plus some vehicle and handling refinements based on community feedback, along with multiple improvements to gameplay, the ModHub section and more.

What’s New

  • Version 2.3 primary focus is delivering further stability and improvements across multiple aspects of Project Motor Racing.
  • Highlighting this update is the addition of the Lamborghini Temerario to the base game, along with a new class.
  • Expanded support for the ModHub, including multi-class support for Career Mode mods, along with enabling UDP telemetry on consoles.
  • Multiple fixes have been implemented based on community feedback, along with further vehicle and handling refinements. Don’t worry, your previous custom setups still work.

Lamborghini Temerario

  • Lamborghini’s newest supercar comes to Project Motor Racing, complete with all its cutting-edge technology. At its heart is an all-new 4L twin-turbo V8 producing 789HP on its own and revving all the way to an extraordinary 10,000 RPM, backed up by three electric motors for around 907HP combined. All-wheel drive, hybrid punch, and raceengine revs in a road car. Pure Lamborghini energy.
  • In Project Motor Racing all its technical advances are simulated as accurately as possible. Its main party trick is the four-wheel steering. Constantly monitoring driver inputs and levels of grip, this system actively deploys phased steering when needed.
  • Below 75 km/h, the rear wheels steer up to 3.0° in the opposite direction to the fronts, effectively shortening the wheelbase for tighter rotation through hairpins and low-speed complexes.
  • With it also comes the Track Day class as part of the base game content.

Visuals and Weather

  • Significant improvements have been made to rendering and weather systems.
  • The environmental lighting model now simulates solar intensity, colour temperature and sky-driven illumination throughout the full diurnal cycle. Smoother temporal transitions and improved low-light exposure provide stable visibility from sunrise through night racing, while preserving a natural atmospheric response.
  • Meanwhile changes made to tone-mapping has improves luminance mapping, contrast response and colour reproduction across the full dynamic range. Trackside detail remains legible in high-intensity skies, specular reflections, shadowed areas and headlight illumination, producing a more consistent visual reference.
