A new teaser video showcases some of Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s JDM cars in action for the first time.

Following a series of car reveals, the first moving footage of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer reboot has been released.

The 26-second-long clip shows a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II, Mazda RX-7, and Toyota Supra RZ racing and weaving through traffic on a Tokyo highway at night, evoking the atmosphere of its Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 predecessors.

Long-time series developer Genki has confirmed the video is a pre-visualisation rather than in-game engine footage. Nevertheless, this is our first look at Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s JDM cars in action.

Although they weren’t shown in the trailer, the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86, Toyota GR86 RZ, and Subaru Impreza WRX STI will also make up Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s car list, with more cars yet to be unveiled.

Dubbed as “a return to the core that makes the series so beloved,” the first Tokyo Xtreme Racer entry since 2007 will see you drive iconic JDM cars across Japan’s famous Shuto Expressway in illegal night-time street races once again.

Other than that, little is known about Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s long-awaited return, with a PC release slated for 2025. A console release has yet to be confirmed.

Hopefully, it won’t be long until we find out more details and see some proper gameplay footage of Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s long-awaited revival.
