Tokyo Xtreme Racer reboot confirms MkIV Supra, teases FD RX-7

First, it was the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), and now it is the quintessential Japanese sportscar – the fourth-generation Toyota Supra.

For many, the MkIV is the zenith of the coupe lineup, what with its rear-wheel-drive, t-top roof and inimitable 2JZ straight-six engine. Combine that with Fast & Furious and Gran Turismo appearances, this particular model has woven itself into tuner folklore.

So, a street racing game set in (a closed-off, near-future) Tokyo has to feature it.

Except, Toyota licencing agreements are far from guaranteed – just ask Need for Speed.

A brief teaser clip has unveiled the car for the upcoming, 2025-slated, Tokyo Extrreme Racer, however. More specifically, this is a twin-turbo ‘JZA80’.

The game is set to be a return for the series since 2005 (or 2007 based upon US release dates), which previously spanned Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 consoles.

Much like the recent Nissan unveiling, the trailer ends with a shadowy teaser of the next car – which we can tell is the FD-generation (Series 8) Mazda RX-7.

No gameplay has been shown yet, or a firm release date been provided, for the all-new Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
