It’s the collaboration we never realised we needed. Yes, Arma Reforger’s Rally DLC is available now, adding three rally car variants of recognisable Eastern-bloc favourites from Škoda, Lada and Trabant, including:

  • Šárka 105 RS
  • Sputnik 600 RS
  • Dana 2001 RS
  • A tractor. Yes.

Announced back in September, the Rally DLC adds a new Time Trial mode to Bohemia Interactive’s military sim, with players racing the clock to beat their own and other players’ stage times.

Although there’s no concurrent multiplayer mode, players can at least chase the ghost of the fastest leaderboard time. In a neat touch, AI spectators can also apparently right your car after a big off, much like they do in Richard Burns Rally.

Six special stages span the game’s three islands, and when combined with each car’s unique characteristics, they offer an interesting challenge. However, driving physics has not traditionally been Arma Reforger’s strong suit, so until we get a chance to playtest the new DLC, we’ll reserve judgment.

The DLC arrives alongside the game’s V1.9 update, which, along with a major vehicle overhaul (“Major Vehicle-Overhaul reporting for duty”), also adds civilian variants of the new rally cars for free.

Military sim Arma Reforger gets surprise rallying update. No, really.

The update adds support for steering wheels and alters engine, clutch and differential modelling for a supposedly more realistic driving experience across the board.

Arma Reforger’s Rally DLC is out now on PC via Steam, costing $7.99 / £6.49.
