The countdown to Assetto Corsa Competizione’s (ACC) huge April update intensifies, as Kunos Simulazioni has today (24th March 2023) showcased the third and last of its GT3 car additions.

Following on from a closer look at both the Ferrari 296 GT3 and Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, the next car to be revealed in detail is the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992).

Replacing the outgoing 911 GT3 R 991.2 model, the 992 brings Porsche’s GT3 protagonist up to the same visual specification as its road-going cousin. Despite being subject to the FIA and SRO Motorsport Group’s Balance of Performance (BoP) calculations, the 992 should be able to produce 565bhp, weighing in at around 1,250kg.

However, the unique selling point of the 911 is its engine, located as it is beyond the rear axle. It’s also notable for being the only normally-aspirated flat-six motor in the world of GT3 racing, making it a real high-revving treat for the ears.

The three new GT3 cars in ACC were first announced way back in July last year, with Marco Massarutto – co-founder and Executive Manager of Kunos Simulazioni – also revealing that seven GT2 cars would be screaming their way to the sim in due course. This was set to occur before the release of the company’s much-anticipated Assetto Corsa 2 game in 2024.

Official liveries for the 2023 SRO Fanatec GT World Challenge motorsport series are also set to be in the works over the course of this season too.
