With the impending release of American Truck Simulator’s Illinois DLC, Route 66 will finally be completed in SCS Software’s vast delivery sim.

Understandably, however, with much of the in-game Route 66 appearing in ATS’s older map packs, SCS has elected to go back and refresh a select portion of the storied highway.

Following the successful completion of the California Rework project last year, SCS will focus its efforts along the I-40, giving particular attention to upgrading the states of Arizona and New Mexico.

Expect to see localised updates to the small towns that litter the historic road, some of which have fallen into disrepair since the emergence of modern freeways.

Route 66 terminates in Illinois and stretches 2,448 miles between Santa Monica to the west and Chicago to the east. It incorporates the States of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, all of which are available as DLC packs for ATS.

It’s an exciting time for ATS fans, with the sim set to feature drivable cars in a future update. Players can also sample a host of new improvements now as its v1.55 Open Beta is currently live.
