The third round of the ADAC SimRacing Expo Asetek SimSports Community Trophy progressed from Nürburgring’s Sprint layout to the Lausitzeing, where Leon Harhoff aimed to continue his dominant streak by claiming three race wins on the trot.

However, in qualifying it was Leonardo Passoni who staked his victory claim, clinching pole position for the first of two 20-minute sprint races.

Passoni and Harhoff made equal starts, with the Italian driver holding onto the lead through the opening sequence of corners. Passoni settled into a rhythm and inched clear of the runaway championship leader, eventually finishing two seconds to the good at the checkered flag, with  Lorenzo Lutricusi coming home a distant third.

The second race saw a partial grid reversal, meaning Passoni and Harhoff would have to fight their way through the pack to pick up big points.

Harhoff was disastrously embroiled in a mid-pack melee on lap one, dropping to 11th position, while Passoni would seize the initiative by climbing to sixth.

Passoni scythed his way through the field to claim the lead and victory in short order, while Harhoff eventually recovered to third, holding onto his provisional championship lead before drop scores are taken into account.

With Passoni on this form, the championship battle has very much been reignited, with Asetek SimSports prizes available for the championship’s podium finishers:

1st place: Forte S Series pedal set

2nd place:  250EUR voucher for the Asetek Simsports Shop
