After being an Xbox and PC exclusive for over three years, Forza Horizon 5 is now on PlayStation. No, we’re not in a parallel universe: PS5 players can finally experience one of this generation’s greatest racing games.

Who ported Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?
Traditionally, Forza Horizon games are developed by Playground Games. However, the PS5 version was ported by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games.
Based in Austin, Texas, Panic Button was also responsible for enhancing Forza Horizon 4 on Xbox Series X|S and Doom’s miraculous Nintendo Switch port, among others.
When is Forza Horizon 5 coming out on PS5?
Over three years after its initial Xbox and PC release, Forza Horizon 5 is out now on PS5 as of 29th April 2025. Those who preordered the Premium Edition have had Early Access since 25th April.
Why is Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?
Since acquiring Activision Blizzard for $69 billion, Microsoft has shifted its focus away from first-party exclusives to become a third-party publisher. As a result, games that were previously exclusive to PC and Xbox are making their way to other systems. Before Forza Horizon 5 was ported to PlayStation, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded and Sea of Thieves came to Sony’s system.
What editions are available?
Forza Horizon 5 has three editions on PS5: Standard, Deluxe and Premium.
The Standard Edition includes the base game with no extras. A Car Pass is included in the Deluxe Edition, adding an additional 42 cars. Alongside the Car Pass, the top-tier Premium Edition includes two expansions (Rally Adventure and Hot Wheels), VIP Membership and a Welcome Pack.
The Welcome Pack includes five special pre-tuned cars, a Player House and a free car of your choice from the Autoshow. You also get three one-time grants for any Common or Rare clothing item.
How much does Forza Horizon 5 cost on PS5?
Forza Horizon 5’s price on PS5 varies for each edition as follows:
- Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition: £54.99 / $59.99 / €69.99
- Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition: £69.99 / $79.99 / €89.99
- Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition: £84.99 / $99.99/ €99.99
Does Forza Horizon 5 have any new features on PS5?
Forza Horizon 5 takes advantage of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The triggers simulate the resistance of the accelerator and brake pedals, while the haptic feedback lets you feel surface changes and grip levels through he controller.
How does Forza Horizon 5 look and perform on PS5?
Like the Xbox and PC versions, Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 features two rendering modes: Performance and Quality.
Performance mode increases the frame rate to 60fps with some visual compromises, such as reduced foliage. Quality mode restricts the frame rate to 30fps with enhanced visuals.
We recommend Performance mode as the marginally improved graphics aren’t worth the trade-off for a slower frame rate.
Are there any PS5 Pro enhancements?
Yes, Quality mode adds ray-traced car reflections during races and free roam on PS5 Pro, while Performance mode brings higher-fidelity graphics at 60fps. In Performance mode, you’re essentially getting the best of both worlds, with equivalent graphics to the standard PS5’s Quality mode.
Does Forza Horizon 5 support cross-play and cross-progress on PS5?
Yes, Forza Horizon 5 supports cross-play on PS5, allowing you to play online multiplayer with other players on PC and Xbox seamlessly.
Confusingly, you can’t add a friend you already know to your Microsoft account to cross-play in-game. Instead, you have to use the Xbox phone or PC app to add specific friends. Conversely, random players you encounter can be added in-game.
Transferring progress from the Xbox or PC versions is not supported, however, so you’ll need to restart your progress on PS5 even if you own Forza Horizon 5 on other platforms.
What is Horizon Realms?
Horizon Realms is a new mode on all platforms, coinciding with the PS5 launch. This new mode allows you to revisit 11 repurposed stadiums from previous festival playlists and is playable in two modes:
- Skill Mode: Earn skill points by pulling off tricks such as drifting before the five-minute timer runs out. Your high score is then placed on an online leaderboard.
- Free Mode: As the name suggests, this mode lets you freely explore each environment with no time limit.
Four new-to-Horizon cars can also be unlocked by playing through Horizon Realms:
- Lamborghini Revuelto 2024 – S2 905 – Legendary
- Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato 2023 – S1 836 – Legendary
- Lotus Exige Cup 430 2018 – S1 833 – Epic
- Hennessey Mammoth 1000 6×6 TRX 2022 – B 697
Is there any additional DLC?
Yes, all DLC from the Xbox and PC versions is available in the PS5 version, including an array of car packs and two themed expansions.

Will there be a physical edition?
Forza Horizon 5 is currently digital-only on PS5. Playground Games says there are “no plans for a disc release” on PS5, even though the Xbox version received a physical version.
Does Forza Horizon 5 support PSVR 2?
No, Forza Horizon 5 does not support PSVR 2. While Playground Games hasn’t confirmed plans to support Sony’s VR headset, it’s unlikely, as no Forza Horizon or Motorsport games are playable in VR.
However, it can be played while wearing the headset in the flat screen cinematic mode.
Is Forza Horizon 5 on PS4?
No, Forza Horizon 5 is not on PS4.
Will Forza Motorsport also come to PS5?
Turn 10 hasn’t confirmed if Forza Motorsport will make its way onto PS5 alongside Forza Horizon 5. However, it seems unlikely as it would compete against Gran Turismo 7, which is more established on PS5.
