A guide to Forza Horizon 5’s DLC

All you need to know, in one comprehensive guide, about Forza Horizon 5’s myriad of DLC options, packs and bundles.

Forza Horizon 5 DLC Guide

Shop sim racing equipment

It feels as if there are a million pieces of paid-for downloadable content for Forza Horizon 5, and that actually isn’t far off.

A quick search for DLC on the PlayStation Store for the game (which is on PC, Xbox and now PS5) unveils at least 56 items, packs, bundles and expansions.

It’s all a bit of a mess, especially when most additional DLC is not part of Deluxe or Premium versions of the game – yes, the Car Pass only includes a small fraction of the total possible DLC cars…

Confusing, to say the least, and crucially, is any of it worth it? Let’s dig in…

Is Forza Horizon 5’s DLC worth it?

In Traxion’s opinion, the Expansion DLC for Forza Horizon 5 (in particular the Hot Wheels Expansion) is worth a purchase if you’re looking for more from the game, as they include cars, features and new environments.

The Car Pass and the Car Packs value remains suspect as there are hundreds of cars in the game already, earned through Accolades, rewards or the Festival Playlist, or simply purchased in the Autoshow or Auction House. None of the extra DLC cars are necessary to enjoy the game.

If we were pushed to recommend a Car Pack, our favourite is JDM Jewels, and the VIP Membership includes a beastly modified BMW X5, which can be used for almost any event.

With that in mind, either purchase the Standard Edition and enjoy it, and then plump for the Expansions once you finish the base game.

Forza Horizon 5 game editions

Before we dive into the various DLC options, we must first talk about the three main game editions available.

  • Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition
  • Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition
  • Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition

The Standard Edition is self-explanatory; it’s simply the game and nothing else for $59.99 / £54.99 / €69.99. The Deluxe Edition and Premium Edition, however, also include:

Forza Horizon 5 Deluxe Edition contents and price

  • Full game
  • Car Pass
  • $79.99 / £69.99 / €89.99

Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition contents and price

  • Full game
  • Car Pass
  • Hot Wheels expansion
  • Rally Adventure expansion
  • Welcome Pack
  • VIP Membership
  • 25th April 2025 access
  • $99.99 / £84.99 / €99.99

Looking for the Deluxe Edition, it is $9.99 / £9.99 / €9.99 cheaper than buying the base game and Car Pass separately – although you may not want, and you certainly don’t need, the Car Pass.

For the Premium Edition, that’s a $49.96 / £43.96 / €49.96 saving compared to each item individually.

Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels Expansion

Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels Expansion - Hennessey Venom F5 2021

This is one of two expansions available for Forza Horizon 5. That means it’s much more than just a car pack (although several new cars are included). Instead, this is a new area (set in the sky, in this instance) with giant plastic orange tracks like a Hot Wheels toy set.

There are new challenges, missions, vehicles, accolades and achievements/trophies. You could almost think of it as a spin-off game in its own right, oly you load into the new environment from a marker on the main Mexican map.

This is the most visually spectacular area of Horizon 5, and while not accurate to actual racing or Hot Wheels racing, the extra unlocks and beautiful visuals make this an essential add-on.

Price: $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure Expansion

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure Ford Focus Colin McRae

The second expansion is less successful. Rally Adventure promised dirt-racing, with a co-driver and rally cars, and it delivers that for the opening set piece and then… it just feels like more Horizon 5 on in a less characterful environment.

There’s only really one true rally car added too, with others being buggies or pumped-up trucks. Still, it adds anti-lag pops and bangs to car tuning. So there’s that at least.

Price: $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99

Forza Horizon 5 Expansions Bundle

This is simply both the Hot Wheels Expansion and the Rally Adventure Expansion in one DLC pack. When bought separately, these would cost a total of $39.98 / £31.98 / €39.98, but this bundle is priced at $34.99 / £28.99 / €34.99, a small $4.99 / £2.99 / €4.99 saving.

Alternatively, skip Rally Adventure altogether and just pick up the Hot Wheels Expansion to save even more…

Price: $34.99 / £28.99 / €34.99

Forza Horizon 5 Welcome Pack

This is a small pack that includes, like the VIP Membership, below, some tuned cars and digital items that aren’t much to shout about.

The cars are a pleasant booster to start the game, but all (untuned at least) can be earned through simply playing anyway. And the grants don’t provide much you won’t be able to have as you play along.

Forza Horizon 5 Welcome Pack contents

  • 2018 Apollo Intensa Emozione (Welcome Pack tuned)
  • 2020 Ford #2069 Ford Bronco R (Welcome Pack tuned)
  • 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR (Welcome Pack tuned)
  • 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S (Welcome Pack tuned)
  • 1998 Toyota Supra RZ (Welcome Pack tuned)
  • 1 Player House
  • A one-time grant to own any car available from the game’s Autoshow
  • 3 one-time grants for any Common or Rare clothing item

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

Forza Horizon 5 VIP Membership

The VIP membership mostly consists of largely pointless digital trinkets, like emotes and clothes. It’s not worth it for those, nor a house or extra Super Wheelspins.

However, it does include three ‘Forza Edition’ (super modified) cars, two of which are superb, in the Puma and especially the BMW – you can use this to finish most of the game at a canter if you wish.

Despite that, it makes some sense when bundled as part of a game edition, but perhaps not worth it as a solo purchase.

Forza Horizon 5 VIP Membership contents

  • Ford 1999 Racing Puma Forza Edition car
  • Dodge 1969 Charger R/T Forza Edition car
  • BMW 2011 X5 M Forza Edition car
  • Crown Flair
  • Vanity Items
  • Emote and Car Horn
  • Gift Player House
  • 2x Credit race rewards
  • Weekly bonus Super Wheelspins

Price: $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99

2018 Audi RS 5 Forza Horizon 5 Car Pass

Forza Horzion 5 Car Pass

The Car Pass for Forza Horizon 5 includes 42 extra cars that cannot be earned in the game – the only way of owning them is by purchasing either this DLC pass or each car individually on the Steam, Xbox and PlayStation Store.

Originally, back in 2021, the Pass delivered a new car each week, but now that run is long complete, the Pass acts simply like a 42-car pack. It also includes the Formula Drift Pack, which confusingly, can be purchased separately (see below)

It includes the following cars:

  • #34 Toyota Supra MkIV Formula Drift 1995 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • #91 BMW M2 Formula Drift 2020 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • #99 Mazda RX-8 Formula Drift 2009 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • #151 Toyota GR Supra Formula Drift 2020 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • #357 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Formula Drift 2017 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • #411 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Formula Drift 2019 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • Nissan “Gold Leader” Datsun 280Z Forsberg Racing Formula Drift 1975 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • Toyota Gumout 2JZ Camry Stock Car Forsberg Racing Formula Drift 2010 (also in Formula Drift Pack)
  • Subaru WRX STI S209 2019
  • Renault 8 Gordini 1967
  • Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 1970
  • Ferrari J50 2017
  • Ferrari Monza SP2 2019

  • Lexus RC F Track Edition 2020
  • Nissan 370Z Nismo 2019

Price: $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99

Each car is also available individually for $2.99 / £2.49 / €2.99 (apart from the Formula Drift vehicles)

Forza Horizon 5 Formula Drift Pack

Forza Horizon 5, Car Pass, #34 Toyota Supra MkIV Formula Drift 1995

This pack includes eight cars designed to go sideways, based on real-world drifting cars, some even used in the Formula Drift Sport.

The cars cannot be purchased separately, nor can they be earned in-game. You can either buy this pack, or buy the Car Pass, or buy an edition of the game that includes the Car Pass to obtain these vehicles.

  • #34 Toyota Supra MkIV Formula Drift 1995 (also in the Car Pass)
  • #91 BMW M2 Formula Drift 2020 (also in the Car Pass)
  • #99 Mazda RX-8 Formula Drift 2009 (also in the Car Pass)
  • #151 Toyota GR Supra Formula Drift 2020 (also in the Car Pass)
  • #357 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Formula Drift 2017 (also in the Car Pass)

  • Nissan “Gold Leader” Datsun 280Z Forsberg Racing Formula Drift 1975 (also in the Car Pass)
  • Toyota Gumout 2JZ Camry Stock Car Forsberg Racing Formula Drift 2010 (also in the Car Pass)

Price: $6.99 / £5.79 / €6.99

Forza Horizon 5 Individual Car and Car Packs DLC

As Forza Horizon 5 was originally released in 2021, it has long fulfilled the Car Pass and Expansion DLC obligations.

With these complete, and the game still with millions of active players, Microsoft started releasing even more cars and car packs as paid DLC in an attempt at keeping the money flowing in long after initial release.

There are 12 car packs, totalling 56 extra DLC cars. The cars here cannot be purchased separately.

Packs are all priced between Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99 and $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99, including between four and seven cars each.

Like the Car Pass vehicles, none of these cars can be earned in-game. If you’d like one, you’re going to have to pay with cash.

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Racing DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Racing DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 2023 Lotus Emira
  • 2022 Pagani Huayra R
  • 2021 Forsberg Racing Nissan ‘Altimaniac’
  • 2020 Saleen Sportruck XR Black Label

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

No clear theme with this pack, but the stylish Lotus Emira sports car is rather cool. The Nissan, meanwhile, isn’t a regular Altima; instead, it’s a heavily modified 2,000bhp drift car. The Saleen Sportruck, meanwhile, is just a tuned Ford F-150. That leaves the Pagani, which is a naturally-aspirated V12-powered track-only beast!

Forza Horizon 5 Italian Exotics DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Italian Exotics DLC Car Pack

Includes seven cars:

  • 2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica
  • 2022 Ferrari 296 GTB
  • 2020 Ferrari Roma
  • 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12
  • 2020 Lamborghini SC20
  • 2019 Italdesign DaVinci Concept
  • 2018 Lamborghini #63 Squadra Corse Huracán Super Trofeo Evo

Price: $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99

Each car is, as you can guess, Italian in this pack, and mostly a derivation of existing Lamborghinis. The Huracán Tecnica, for example, is a slightly facelifted and upgraded version of the existing Huracán, although the Super Trofeo Evo is a more extreme race car edition.

The SC20 is an Aventador without a windscreen, while the Essenza SCV12 is a track-only version – although both do look spectacular.

Meanwhile, the Italdesign DaVinci Concept is a bland electric concept car. The Ferraris, though, are genuinely all-new models for the game, and the 296 especially is a popular contemporary supercar.

Forza Horizon 5 Super Speed DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Super Speed DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 2022 Volkswagen Golf R
  • 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS
  • 2020 KTM X-Bow GT2
  • 2019 Elemental RP1

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

The Porsche is the ultimate incarnation of the Cayman GT4. In-game, it’s not much different to tuning up a ‘regular’ Cayman GT4, however. The Golf is nice to see the Mk8 version, but there are plenty of Mk7s already in the game.

That leaves the KTM and Elemental as truly unique vehicles, and both are distinctly different, standing out from the crowd, but without being exceptional.

Forza Horizon 5 American Automotive DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 American Automotive DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 2020 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss
  • 2023 Czinger 21C
  • 2017 Saleen S7 LM
  • 1961 DeBerti Ford Econoline ‘Shop Rod’

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

The Saleen is a jumped-up version of an already quick car in the game, while the Silverado is a ponderous truck. Nothing to see here, except…

The Czinger is a wickedly quick real-world hypercar, rarely seen in other games (if at all), and the Econoline is anything but – it’s mid-engined, rear-wheel drive and the sort of wacky project car that works so well in Forza Horizon.

Forza Horizon 5 Fast X DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Fast X DLC Pack

Includes five cars:

  • 1970 Dodge Charger
  • 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport
  • 1973 Datsun 240Z
  • 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody
  • 2022 Flip Car 2.0

Price: $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99

With one exception, regular cars tuned up and made to look like props from the Fast & Furious film of the same name, and the same price as the Italian Exotics packs, but with two fewer cars – presumably due to film licencing.

The Forza series has a long history with the Fast films, but aside from the wild Flip Car, this seems more than a little superfluous.

Forza Horizon 5 Chinese Lucky Stars DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Chinese Lucky Stars DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 2022 Lynk & Co 05+
  • 2023 MG Cyberster
  • 2022 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV
  • 2012 Volkswagen Santana

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

This Chinese-only car pack doesn’t seem particularly exciting on the face of it, the Lynk & Co and Volkswagen being particularly anonymous. But the MG does at least look like it’s from the future.

But it’s the diminutive Wuling that’s the star of the show. Not in base form, but you can implement an electric motor and battery swap for over 1,000 bhp in a car smaller than a postage stamp. Bonkers.

Forza Horizon 5 European Automotive DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 European Automotive DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 1987 Mercedes-Benz AMG Hammer Wagon
  • 2021 Bentley Continental GT Convertible
  • 2020 Automobili Pininfarina Battista
  • 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

The Pininfarina is yet another electric hypercar (yawn) that shares underpinnings with a Rimac, while the Bentley is a boulevard cruiser, not a racer.

But the Mercedes and Jaguar are super-rare cars with incongruous speed hidden within ordinary-looking executive chariots. Wicked.

Forza Horizon 5 Acceleration DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Acceleration DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 1967 Shelby GT 500
  • 2021 McLaren Sabre
  • 2022 Ford #4 Pro Electric Supervan
  • 2019 Ginetta G10 RM

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

In the real world, this is a rare McLaren, but it’s based on (and very similar to) the existing Senna. The Ginetta is an obscure British sports car, and the Shelby is an all-time classic, but not an amazing driving experience.

No, the star here is, weirdly, the electric Ford van. But this isn’t an ordinary Ford van dropping off Amazon packages. This is a record-holding weapon, taking scalps at Goodwood, Bathurst and Pikes Peak. Find a more outlandish aero package…

Forza Horizon 5 Apex All Stars DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Apex All Stars DLC Car Pack

Includes seven cars:

  • 2018 BMW #1 BMW M Motorsport M8 GTE
  • 2015 Cadillac #3 Cadillac Racing ATS-V.R
  • 2020 Chevrolet #3 Corvette Racing C8.R
  • 2020 Lexus #14 VASSER SULLIVAN RC F GT3
  • 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 R
  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3
  • 2019 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 488 GTE

Price: $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99

Of all the DLC packs available for Forza Horizon 5, this is probably the weakest. Sure, it includes seven racing cars, but track-bred cars aren’t the most befitting of the open-world environment and, worse, these are all just recycled car models from Forza Motorsport. Lazy, and a bit of a rip-off.

Forza Horizon 5 Universal Icons DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Universal Icons DLC Car Pack

Includes five cars:

  • K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider
  • 1992 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future (DMC DeLorean)
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future II (DMC DeLorean)
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future III (DMC DeLorean)

Price: $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99

Speaking of lazy DLC car packs, the Universal Icons set includes some cool cars from TV and film – anything with vehicles from Knight Rider and Jurassic Park is worth a look. K.I.T.T. even has the pulsating LED light bar.

But, then there’s the DMC DeLorean from Back to the Future. Cool right? But was there any need for three different versions of it? Feels like padding, no matter how detailed they are.

Forza Horizon 5 JDM Jewels DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 JDM Jewels DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars:

  • 1993 Autozam AZ-1
  • 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Evolution
  • 1997 Nissan Stagea RS Four
  • 1991 Toyota Sera

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

This is more like it – the homologation special Mitsubishi is an epic off-road racer, the Autozam is a strange small car with tuning potential and the Stagea actually shared a platform with the renowned Skyline, so simply add more power to create a wagon GT-R!

Finally, the Toyota Sera, which isn’t quick, but does have gullwing doors.

Forza Horizon 5 Nissan Reto Rides Car Pack DLC Car Pack

Forza Horizon 5 Nissan Reto Rides Car Pack DLC Car Pack

Includes four cars

  • 1989 Nissan Pao
  • 1991 Nissan Figaro
  • 1989 Nissan Scargo
  • 1987 Nissan BE1

Price: $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99

Four slow, esoteric, Nissans. Hardly going to see a rush on at digital stores for this set…

Mind you, each is distinctive – the Figaro and Scargo are especially unlike anything else, coming from an experimental era of growth for the Japanese car industry.

They are all part of a ‘pike cars’ initiative, which means they are all based on a Nissan Micra/March of the era. Plenty of tuning potential, strange looks – mind you, these are the sort of strange cars Gran Turismo adds for free, instead of a paid DLC pack.

Forza Horizon 5 Ultimate Car Pack Collection

Forza Horizon 5 Ultimate Car Pack

The Ultimate Car Pack takes the 12 aforementioned DLC Car Packs and puts them into one package. That’s 56 cars in total.

It’s priced at a hefty $49.99 / £39.99 / €49.99, although if you were to purchase the 12 car packs separately, you’d have spent $79.88 / £63.88 / €79.88. Therefore, this is a saving of ~37%, but still a not inconsiderable amount for several cool cars, and a lot of filler.

Includes 12 car packs for 56 extra cars:

  • 2023 Lotus Emira
  • 2022 Pagani Huayra R
  • 2021 Forsberg Racing Nissan ‘Altimaniac’
  • 2020 Saleen Sportruck XR Black Label
  • 2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica
  • 2022 Ferrari 296 GTB
  • 2020 Ferrari Roma
  • 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12
  • 2020 Lamborghini SC20
  • 2019 Italdesign DaVinci Concept
  • 2018 Lamborghini #63 Squadra Corse Huracán Super Trofeo Evo
  • 2022 Volkswagen Golf R
  • 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS
  • 2020 KTM X-Bow GT2
  • 2019 Elemental RP1
  • 2020 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss
  • 2023 Czinger 21C
  • 2017 Saleen S7 LM
  • 1961 DeBerti Ford Econoline ‘Shop Rod’
  • 1970 Dodge Charger
  • 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport
  • 1973 Datsun 240Z
  • 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody
  • 2022 Flip Car 2.0
  • 2022 Lynk & Co 05+
  • 2023 MG Cyberster
  • 2022 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV
  • 2012 Volkswagen Santana
  • 1987 Mercedes-Benz AMG Hammer Wagon
  • 2021 Bentley Continental GT Convertible
  • 2020 Automobili Pininfarina Battista
  • 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8
  • 1967 Shelby GT 500
  • 2021 McLaren Sabre
  • 2022 Ford #4 Pro Electric Supervan
  • 2019 Ginetta G10 RM
  • 2018 BMW #1 BMW M Motorsport M8 GTE
  • 2015 Cadillac #3 Cadillac Racing ATS-V.R
  • 2020 Chevrolet #3 Corvette Racing C8.R
  • 2020 Lexus #14 VASSER SULLIVAN RC F GT3
  • 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 R
  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3
  • 2019 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 488 GTE
  • K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider
  • 1992 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future (DMC DeLorean)
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future II (DMC DeLorean)
  • Time Machine from Back to the Future III (DMC DeLorean)
  • 1993 Autozam AZ-1
  • 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Evolution
  • 1997 Nissan Stagea RS Four
  • 1991 Toyota Sera
  • 1989 Nissan Pao
  • 1991 Nissan Figaro
  • 1989 Nissan Scargo
  • 1987 Nissan BE1

Price: $49.99 / £39.99 / €49.99

Forza Horizon 5 Treasure Map

This is a cheat DLC, which once purchased, will unveil the hidden Barn Finds on the in-game map. A Barn Find is a bonus car, which otherwise you’d have to drive around to find. This also unlocks the location of the Bonus Boards.

Alternatively, save your money and enjoy finding the hidden items or simply read or watch our Barn Find guide.

Price: $2.99 / £2.49 / €2.99

Forza Horizon 5 Car Vouchers

Car Vouchers are a way of purchasing cars within Forza Horizon 5’s Autoshow (read, car dealership) with real money. They come in packs of four, 10 or 24, and none are worth.

Seriously, Horizon 5 showers cars at you every five minutes, through Wheelspins, Super Wheelspins, Festival Playlist rewards, messages and Accolade unlocks. Cash is rarely low on reserves, either, to buy a set car from the Autoshow.

  • Car Vouchers (4) $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99
  • Car Vouchers (10) $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.99
  • Car Vouchers (24) $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99
