Isometric retro racer Super Woden GP was a surprisingly playable arcade gem upon its release last year. In our review, we described it as “a passion-filled love letter to what many consider is a golden era of gaming”, although we felt its initial difficulty could put players off.
Fans of Super Woden GP will therefore be delighted to hear that its solo developer, ViJuDa, is planning to release a sequel, showcasing several notable improvements.
First up, the game map – where players can purchase new cars – is set to be four times bigger than Super Woden GP’s, with new Swedish and Spanish car manufacturers added. This feature evokes heavy Gran Turismo 2 vibes with its map-like appearance, highlighting the game’s retro aesthetic.
Multiple seasonal events will be available outside of campaign races, with more oval races also planned (Super Woden GP had just a single oval event). More cars are also promised for the sequel, totalling over a hundred – a distinct jump over its predecessor’s 70+ vehicles.
