WRC Generations release date moved to November

The latest official World Rally Championship game, WRC Generations, will now release on 3rd November 2022 instead of the previously slated 13th October.

The news follows an initial plan to separate the console and PC versions. Originally, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions were to launch one month prior to PC.

“We know that the PC community is demanding, so this is a way to have, let’s say hopefully a smoother launch of the PC version,” explained Sébastien Waxin, Senior Marketing Project Manager for Nacon’s racing titles to Traxion.GG at Gamescom in reference to the original schedule.

However, upon visiting the developer Kylotonn in Paris earlier this week, the new approach is based upon feedback received at the German industry event and the recent WRC Esports final in Greece.

“We saw [the split date] created quite a lot of confusion,” confirmed Waxin to Traxion.GG.

“I went to WRC Ypres Rally Belgium, and the first question from fans was ‘why is it releasing later on PC?’

So, after many discussions, we decided to make it clear for everybody and release on console and PC on one date.”

The Nintendo Switch adaptation does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it will be before the end of this year.

WRC Generations pre-order bonus

Digital pre-orders for PlayStation and Xbox are now also live, with a bonus Peugeot 206 WRC for those who sign-up before launch on console. Marcus Grönholm took the diminutive silver supermini to world championship glory in 2002.

On PC, Steam or Epic Games Store, pre-orders are not possible, so instead the car will be free to anyone who purchases the game before 17th November 2022.
