When the servers were closed for The Crew earlier this year, it marked the end of being able to play the online-only game, but also the start of a community modding program to try and preserve it.

With that work underway, and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown currently undergoing major issues during its first week on sale, Ubisoft has seized the opportunity.

It has announced that both The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will receive an offline mode, at some point, so they can be enjoyed long after support ends.

“Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest,” explained Creative Director at developer Ivory Tower, Stéphane Beley, whose credits include the first Test Drive Unlimited pre-Ubisoft.

“We are currently exploring different solutions and can confirm an offline mode to ensure long-term access to both access.

“So, stay tuned in the next months.”

What form this will take, and if it will arriver sooner or later remains to be seen. However, it is perhaps worth noting that the production of new content for The Crew 2 has ceased. Motorfest, however, has confirmed at least a second year of support, including a new island.
