Stampede: Racing Royale set for Steam Early Access in November

Stampede: Racing Royale, the chaotic, free-to-play, 60-player online kart racer, is set to hit Steam Early Access this November.

Sumo Leamington, the developer behind colourful kart racer Stampede: Racing Royale, has today (24th August 2023) announced its game will be entering Steam Early Access on the 2nd of November.

The chaotically frantic 60-player battle royale racing game impressed us with an early build back in July, with its bold visuals coming in for particular praise, but it was the prospect of going head-to-head with 59 other human players online that really got our adrenaline pumping.

The free-to-play game follows the cartoony kart racing template laid down by Super Mario Kart over 30 years ago, with a satisfying handling model, drifting and jumps all contributing to action-packed races.

However, in our early hands-on with Stampede: Racing Royale we found the in-game action to be on another level – as though Mario Kart had consumed too many mushroom power-ups. Magic.

It’s certainly a title that has our interest and we’re looking forward to sampling Sumo Leamington’s wares in a few weeks to see if the game surpasses competitors like Smurfs Kart and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3.

Judging by the popularity of the Stampede: Racing Royale booth at Gamescom, it seems like Sumo Leamington is onto a winner.
