Details on Le Mans Ultimate’s Pack 4 DLC were announced today, with the Porsche 911 GT3 R and Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 cars set for release on the 25th of February alongside a comprehensive game update (all the details can be found in our accompanying article here).

However, Motorsport Games and Studio 397 also revealed that several of the game’s existing tracks would receive additional layouts, thereby increasing LMU’s circuit roster by eight (including three extra hits of Bahraini goodness!). The best part is that the new configurations will be entirely free, provided you already own the requisite DLC (in the case of the Circuit of the Americas).

Fuji Speedway, Monza, Sebring, COTA, Bahrain International Circuit and the Circuit de la Sarthe will all see extra layouts added. It’s unknown whether the layouts will be immediately available to race online when the update drops, but with some shorter, snappier configurations it’s likely they’ll be a hit with the community.

Highlights include the Circuit de la Sarthe’s No Chicanes variation, which opens up the entirety of the four-mile-plus Mulsanne straight (officially known as Hunaudières). This should allow some intense slipstreaming battles but one suspects that most of LMU’s cars will hit their rev limiter well before Virage de Mulsanne.

Another highlight is the inclusion of Bahrain’s bowl-like Outer Circuit, the scene of Sergio Perez’s incredible last-to-first victory for Racing Point in 2020. The 2.2-mile track should provide some close racing due to its short-radius corners and long straights, which is in stark contrast to the inclusion of the track’s Endurance Circuit layout.

The Endurance configuration was not popular with drivers when it was first used for Formula 1 in 2010, and the race turned out to be a procession, with most commentators citing the track’s narrow infield and lack of overtaking zones. It was no surprise that it was never used again. Maybe it will fare better in LMU?

Which extra layouts are you most looking forward to driving in LMU on the 25th of February? Let us know in the comments below.
