It’s time to don some virtual leathers and pretend to be Dani Pedrosa in his prime, as the 2021 MotoGP eSport Championship is now open for entry.

Played within the MotoGP 20 video game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One – plus PS5 and Xbox Series via backwards compatibility – anyone can now enter the competition.

MotoGP eSport Challenge 1

The first event is with the diminutive Spanish GP rider around the classic Laguna Seca Circuit. Times will be recorded via the online leaderboard and you have until 21st March at 7 pm CET/6 pm GMT to post an entry. You will need to register via the official MotoGP eSport website first, and a six-digit code is then entered into the game.

This stage of the competition is called the ‘Pro Draft’ and will run across four online time trial challenges, after which a draft selection takes place and the final set of competitors duke it out in a series of races taking place during real-life MotoGP weekends. 16 players from this stage will take part in the draft.

MotoGp eSport Qualifying Tests 2021

In order to enter the online event, you will first need to pass three ‘Qualifying Tests’ held across the three bike classes of Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Moto 3 and Moto 2 around the Assen circuit. You need to simply set a valid lap to pass each challenge – although the track limit rulings are pretty challenging. Then, you are ready to take on the world.

Are you looking forward to take part in the competition? Let us know on social media.
