In a unique twist to the 2021 MotoGP eSport season, the opening challenge will be using a classic rider from the sport’s history around the undulating Laguna Seca circuit. Further intrigue has been provided by a fan vote, via social media, to pick the first rider.

Now that the #PickALegend voting is complete, Dani Pedrosa will be the rider you helm around the California track come 18th March, in a bid to become the world’s best virtual MotoGP rider. Voting started across 12 past riders, before being whittled down to the final three of Dani Pedrosa, Max Biaggi and Mick Doohan – with 31-time MotoGP race-winner Pedrosa prevailing.

As we previously reported, the 2021 MotoGP eSport season will be the fifth online MotoGP championship, starting with four online challenges within the MotoGP 20 game. This ‘Pro Draft’ section of the tournament will end on 11th April, before the ‘Global Series’ – which consists of four in-person events across eight races – starts 28th May 2021.
