Another week, another entry in Dave Cam’s Zero to Hero series. This time around, things are going to get a bit spicy as this week, Dave takes on the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup at Oulton Park.
This Fanatec Global Mazda MX-5 Cup official series is a mainstay fixed series on the iRacing platform. Dave knows a thing or two about this combination as well, having raced here in his Traxion.GG MX-5 series last year. The International variant of the track is the primarily used one, and that’s what Dave will be taking on again today.
Last week, Dave had to deal with the likes of Piers Prior in multiple FF1600 races at Summit Point. This week, the iRacing matchmaking system has traded in Piers for Jack Doohan, a championship-winning Australian driver who currently competes in Formula 2 and also holds the reserve slot for the Alpine Formula 1 team.
Doohan is starting on the pole position while Dave is starting as far back as he possibly can as per usual. This week, that means a seventh place starting spot. Can Dave cut through the field and scrap it up with who we think is the real-world professional racing driver? Spoiler alert – yes. Apologies go out to George, though…
