Bizarre issue forces track change in Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races

Gran Turismo 7 developer Polyphony Digital has today (15th November 2022) announced a venue change in Race B of this week’s Daily Races schedule.

The highly unusual step has been taken thanks to an apparent shortcut issue with Race B’s former circuit of choice, Autodromo Lago Maggiore’s West layout.

The issue centres around the final sector of the track, where if players stay stationary off the racing line they will be transported immediately to the front straight and able to set ridiculously fast lap times.

A statement on Gran Turismo’s official site simply read:

“An issue has been discovered in the current ‘Daily Race B,’ as such the track used in this event has now been changed from ‘Lago Maggiore West’ to ‘Red Bull Ring Short Track. We apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused”.

No word of a patch to fix the issue Polyphony Digital has instead moved Race B to the Red Bull Ring’s Short Track configuration, at the very least offering a similar kind of challenge to Maggiore.

Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races have often come under fire for their poor Balance of Performance (BoP) calculations, leading to a select few cars becoming overpowered. However, nothing is more overpowering than cutting out half a track from one’s lap time!
