Shop sim racing equipment
BeamNG.drive’s impressive soft-body crash recreations are punishingly real – but what would happen if something from the 1930s was in the simulation? How would its square-edged and rudimentary engineering crumple?
These are the important questions the Bremen-based development team must have posed themselves ahead of its latest v0.34 update. Here are the major additions:
Bruckell Nine Vintage car
Reminding us of a Bugsy Malone scene (although, technically the wrong decade), the Bruckell Nine hails from a (fictional) 1930s.
As is expected with new BeamNg cars, there are nine different body styles included and a suite of customisation options. From sedate cruisers, to convertibles and hot rods.
While-walled tyres and iffy handling typify a vehicle from this era.
Biome Tool
You can create environments within BeamNG’s world editor, but now, that should be a little more straightforward.
A biome tool has been added, which on paper, allows for the easy population of foliage and trees in a matter of minutes. Players will be able to ‘draw’ out the area they would like to add, let’s say vegetation and rocks, click a button, and hey presto, a more life-like area.
Further West Coast improvements
The Belasco Motorsport Park area has seen an off-road course added to the environment, alongside a refreshed parking lot.
Across the West Coast, bus shelters have been redesigned too plus freeroam drift areas have been added (alongside a new drift scoring system).
Challenges, drag racing and new parts
Among a host of additional changes, the Gavril Grand Marshall has received a new widebody kit, extra police-themed items have been created, there are three new challenge missions and there’s a Dial Racing mode for drag racing fans.
As ever, these are just the highlights – the full patch notes are ginormous, but can be found on BeamNG’s website.
