One of the ADAC SimRacing Expo’s two tentpole sim racing competitions is now open for qualification – the Asetek SimSports Community Trophy.
Using the original Assetto Corsa platform, with identical ACFSK Duqueine D08 LMP3 machinery and five German circuits, the aim is to showcase the best non-pro sim racing talent, with Asetek prizes up for grabs for the top three finishes in the series.
Five rounds, including a remote finale during the Friday evening (18th October) of this year’s Expo, will see 40 drivers compete. These are the quickest from the Road Atlanta hot lap qualifying system, which is now live on Grid Finder.
The venues are Norisring, Nürburgring Sprint, Lausitzring DTM and Sachsenring, with the fifth venue to be decided by a community vote at a later date.
During each round, the 40 drivers will be split into two groups of 20 for a 20-minute race with qualifying. Then, the top 10 from each group race processes into a further 20-minute race, which is where championship points are handed out.
The races will be broadcast too on the event’s main YouTube and Twitch channels.
“It’s awesome to bring Grid Finder and the Sim Racing Expo together for another year of competitions,” said Grid Finder’s Operations Manager Dan Terry.
“After personally being involved in organizing competitions with the team for two of the past three years, it’s great to be able to plan and execute competitions for all skill levels this year, across multiple sims using Grid Finder to manage those races.
The initial qualifying, to determine the 40 drivers, is open from now until 14th July 2024. Then, the first round is 21st July and the final on 18th October.
A one-round drop score system is in place for this series, so those who miss one or more rounds are still in with a chance of claiming one of the three top prizes.
The Asetek SimSports Community Trophy sits alongside the iRacing-utilising GT500 event, also supported by the ADAC SimRacing Expo.
