With cash prizes on the line, a five-round iRacing competition linked to the upcoming ADAC SimRacing Expo is about to commence.
Qualifying for the championship is now live, simply by visiting the Time Attack section of the popular sim racing service. There you will see the GT500 qualification challenge, where an open setup Mazda MX-5 and Lime Rock Park (West Bend Chicane) await.
This is open until the end of this Friday, closing at 00:00 GMT on 6th July.
The top 50 times will form the grid for the races, which begin on 28th July. All but one of the cars and one of the tracks are base content included with an active iRacing membership.
Each round will feature two-lap qualifying with two 20-minute races, the second featuring a reverse grid.
The aforementioned MX-5 will form part of the car roster which also includes the Ford Mustang GT3, Toyota GR86 and Ray FF1600. The selection from the quartet will be published one day prior to each race.
A similar process will be used to decide the venue for each round, selecting from Circuito de Navarra (Speed Circuit), Circuit de Lédenon, Virginia International Raceway (Full Course), Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (Grand Prix) and Road Atlanta.
“We’re excited to support this year’s ADAC Digital GT500 on iRacing. The ADAC SimRacing Expo is one of the most important events of the year for sim racing, and we’re always honoured to be a part of it,” said iRacing President, Tony Gardner.
“For the 10th anniversary of the ADAC Digital 500, we’ve returned to a driver championship and wanted to shake things up,” said the event’s Head of SimRacing Danny Giusa.
“During qualification, we feature base content to make it possible for everyone on iRacing to take part in our series. In the championship itself, we want to highlight the drivers’ abilities to adapt quickly to an unknown environment, moving away from endless hotlapping and setup modifications.”
The ADAC SimRacing Expo GT500 is a sim racing championship hosted by the German event on iRacing. It will be held across five rounds, each with two 20-minute races, and a prize pool of €5,000 is up for grabs.
