Nils Naujoks has claimed yet another BMW Sim Live crown on the Assetto Corsa Competizione platform, dominating the BMW M2-based race.

With a €6,000 prize for the winner on the line, the final of the 2022 BMW Sim Time Attack competition – with the finalists determined via hot laps – headed to Oulton Park.

After a brief qualifying session, it was a BS+Competition one, two, three on the grid, with reigning BMW Time Attack champion Naujoks setting the fastest time. Colleagues Arthur Kammerer and Gregor Schill completed the domination.

At the rolling start, Naujoks led away, with his two team-mates behind. Unicorns of Love’s Bastian Richter looked to overtake Schill for third initially but decided that discretion was the better part of valour.

Behind, down through Island, contact between several cars meant West Competition Racing’s Victor Nicolae ended up in the barriers and down to the back of the field.

On the first lap, Veloce’s Marko Pejic jumped Charlie Crossland, but two minutes later, the G2 Esports driver fought back into Cascades and reclaimed fifth.

A relatively sedate race proceeded, until with just over 15 minutes left, Isaac Price was caught behind Matteo Blotto. After the Italian ran wide at Lodge, and then parked it on the apex of Old Hall, contact was made, and Price snatched ninth.

The position was redressed soon after, but six minutes later, the Brit finally made the move stick.

As the minutes ticked down, Naujoks had checked out upfront. But for second, Kammerer looked to let through Schill for second in a seemingly coordinated maneuverer just three laps from home to try and defend from Richter.

Regardless of the podium politics, the now two-time champion had dominated and looked suitably relieved as he crossed the line to win.

“Very excited to grab this one again,” said the Naujoks.

“I had two team-mates behind me who weren’t threatening me. We found mega pace yesterday in the practice session. I like the car a lot.”
