What to expect from sim racing and driving games in March 

February was unequivocally stacked with new racing game releases, from Ride 6 to the PS5 port of Tokyo Xtreme Racer. This month won’t be a quiet month for the genre, either.  

From an anime-inspired arcade racer to a surprise iRacing spin-off and The Crew Motorfest’s biggest update yet, here’s everything you can expect from the world of sim racing and driving games in March.

New racing games releasing in March

iRacing Arcade

Release date: 3rd March
Platforms: PC (console release planned for summer)

If iRacing’s simulation racing is too hardcore for you, there’s now a casual arcade alternative. From the makers of Circuit Superstars, iRacing Arcade is a diminutive spin-off combining charming visuals with both fictional and real-world racecars and locations.

It’s the unusual Sim City-style career mode that stands out, however. As you build your racing team from the ground up, you hire drivers, buy cars and build a campus by adding facilities, from research and design centres to performance shops.

Trail Out

Release date: 5^th March
Platforms: PS5

PlayStation players have been waiting a long time for Trail Out. The FlatOut-inspired destruction racer was initially released on PC in 2022 before being ported to Xbox Series X|S in 2024.

Two years later, the long-delayed PS5 port is finally smashing onto Sony’s console this month.

Developed by indie studio Good Boys, Trail Out is a spiritual successor to Bugbear’s original FlatOut games, featuring spectacular crashes, destructible environments and even a story mode. FlatOut’s ragdoll minigames also return, with you hurling drivers in absurd bowling and darts games.  

Its chaotic, no rules racing should ease the wait for Wreckfest 2, which currently lacks a firm release window for consoles.

Screamer

Release date: 26th March
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

From Ride 6 developer Milestone, Screamer is an ambitious arcade racer with an anime-inspired story, slick presentation and a surprisingly deep combat system.

Inspired by fighting games, players can activate attack and defence moves by building up energy bars, requiring perfect timing. On top of that, there is also a twin-stick control scheme for driving and drifting to master. The result is an intriguing blend of Ridge Racer and Street Fighter.   

Reinventing a forgotten franchise is inherently risky, and newcomers may find the disparate mechanics overwhelming, but our recent hands-on preview suggests that Screamer will stand out as an arcade racer like no other when it releases later this month.

DLC and updates

The Crew Motorfest Season 9

Release date: 6^th March
Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One

Despite The Crew Motorfest entering its third year, Ubisoft Ivory Tower’s impressive post-release support is showing no signs of slowing down. With the open-world racer facing stiff competition from Forza Horizon 6 in May, the next season is arguably its most seminal and monumental update yet.

Free for all players, Season 9 introduces a new NASCAR-themed playlist, featuring officially licensed cars and liveries from the Cup Series, enhanced car damage and pit stops influencing race strategies.   

There’s also a new environment to explore, with the Playground Island bringing towering magnetic tracks with Hot Wheels-style loops.

TrackForge promises to be Season 9’s standout addition, however. This powerful tool lets you design custom tracks and share them with other players, whether you want to create ridiculous rollercoaster-style challenges or serious racing circuits. This will potentially add significant replay value, allowing Ubisoft’s open-world racer to hold its own against Forza Horizon.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 6

Release date: Late March (release date TBC)
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

The Crew Motorfest isn’t the only open-world racer with a new season update this month. Launching later this month, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s latest live service update sees the return of detective missions, where you tail target cars while avoiding being spotted.

A staple of the franchise, interactive clothing shops also make a welcome return in Ibiza, while new cars include the Lamborghini Temerario (the replacement for the Huracán), Pininfarina B95 and Bentley Continental GTC Speed.

With Nacon’s ongoing financial challenges, it could be a longer wait for Solar Crown’s next update after Season 6.

Rennsport Endurance Classics Part 1 DLC and free update

Release date: March TBA
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

After a false start, Rennsport is attempting to make a redemption this year. As revealed in an extensive 2026 roadmap, this year’s first update will introduce the Endurance Classics Part 1 DLC featuring five legendary endurance cars, including the Mercedes-Benz CLK LM, Porsche 956 and Peugeot 9X9 EVO.

Meanwhile, a free update will add the Hyundai N Vision 74, Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit and new layouts for Road Atlanta and Fuji, along with updated single-player championships.

Formula Legends closed multiplayer beta

Release date: March TBA
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch

Indie racer Formula Legends will receive a ‘Track Pack #1’ DLC, but details are under wraps for now. The retro-inspired racer’s long-awaited online multiplayer will also enter a closed beta, ahead of a planned public rollout in April.

iRacing Season 2 2026

Release date: 10th March
Platforms: PC

Alongside the release of the arcade spin-off, the mainline iRacing will unleash its Season 2 2026 update this month. It promises to be another exhaustive update, with highlights including America’s St. Petersburg Street Circuit, the NASCAR Ram Truck and overhauled TCR, GTE and IMSA physics.

Le Mans Ultimate 1.3 and ELMS DLC

Release date: End of March
Platforms: PC

Le Mans Ultimate will release what it touts as ‘Version 1.3’ by the “end of March”. Which quality-of-life features will be included is not yet known. However, we also expect this update to align with the release of the final European Le Mans Series DLC.

One car and one track are left: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the Duqueine D09 LMP3.

Project Motor Racing updates

Release date: 4th March
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Patch 1.7 for the beleaguered Project Motor Racing launches today (4th March), which includes a potentially notable GT4 tyre model plus a free car – the Ford Falcon V8 Supercar.

However, while unconfirmed, we’d expect further hotfixes and updates to continue throughout the month too.

Elsewhere, Assetto Corsa Rally will hopefully receive another content drop in March, following the rally simulation’s superbly accurate recreation of the treacherous Monte Carlo last month. Supernova Games aims to roll out monthly updates, but this cadence was already broken in January. 

Automobilista 2 recently teased a stout lineup of fixes and content, although it’s not clear when these will start to roll out. Meanwhile, we’d expected something this month from RaceRoom, possibly starting with Spa-Francorchamps.

Joining the unconfirmed club, BeamNG has also begun teasing its traditional Q1 update, too.

Speaking of monthly content drops, we’re hoping Gran Turismo 7 will deliver a new update in March after leaving us disappointed in February. If so, the recently unveiled Xiaomi Vision GT could potentially headline the next update.
