This week’s Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races focus on the game’s recent v1.38 September update, with Race A featuring a one-make race for the latest generation of the Honda Civic Type R.
Races B and C concentrate on Gr.4 and Gr.3 events respectively, with Mazda’s newly-added Gr.4 contender – the MAZDA3 – coming to the fore.
Race C’s 25-minute long race uses the Nürburgring’s Sprint configuration – added in the game’s v1.31 update – and with only soft tyres available should be a test of race strategy.
You can find GT7’s Daily Races in the game’s Sport Mode; offering online ranked racing with players of a similar skill level based on previous performances.
Race A
The FL5 is Honda’s newest version of the Honda Civic Type R. The car has evolved from the pint-sized pocket rocket that was the 1997 EK9, to the full-size family-saloon-on-steroids we have today.
Although the FL5 is a tidier-looking vehicle compared to the busy-looking FK2 and FK8 incarnations, it still retains the Type R’s jaw-dropping speed, building a reputation as the fastest front-wheel-drive production car in the world.
As a result, the Type R is a joy to pilot around Grand Valley South’s wide-open sweeps, with its tighter corners allowing the Honda to cock its unloaded rear wheel under heavy braking.
Remember, GT7’s Sport Mode Sportsmanship Rating (SR) is in play for Race A this week, so be on your best behaviour…

Race B
Another new addition to GT7’s 2023 September update, the MAZDA3 Gr.4 is a front-engined, front-wheel-drive touring car capable of mixing with its sportier Gr.4 rivals.
Built to compete in the Japanese Super Taikyu championship, the MAZDA3 has around 380bhp on tap and boasts the kind of aerodynamic body kit normally seen on a bespoke TCR racecar. In fact, Mazda cancelled its real-world 3 TCR project in 2020, with this Gr.4 version hinting at how the program would have turned out.
And since it’s our recommended car for Race B, we reckon it would’ve turned out pretty well. Thankfully, to help out, it’s possible to adjust car set-up in this race, with brake balance and damper bump and rebound values freely changeable.
For a front-wheel-drive car, we recommend moving the brake balance heavily rearwards, this will help the car turn under heavy braking and prevent front brake lock-ups. Dampers can be softened slightly, with rebound (expansion) set incrementally higher than bump (compression).
Recommended car: MAZDA3 Gr.4 (Brand Central, 350,000 Credits or free rental)
Race C
Using Nürburgring’s Sprint layout, Race C centres on Gr.3 cars, with 2x fuel consumption and 6x tyre wear multipliers keeping players on their toes.
Soft tyres also make things interesting, with other compounds unavailable. There’s no mandatory pitstop either, but players will need at least one visit to pitlane to make it to the chequered flag.
In terms of car choice, the smart money is on choosing either the Porsche 911 RSR or the Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept. Since these have been dominating Gr.3 races of late we’re going to plump for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 – a car that has dominated real-world GT3 racing over the last couple of years.
Set-up options can be altered too, with bump and rebound damper settings, brake balance adjustments and anti-roll bar values all changeable. As ever, we recommend a rearwards brake bias, with softer-than-default damper settings (see Race B).
As for anti-roll bars, stiffening the front (higher value) will generally induce more understeer, while stiffening the rear will create oversteer. Striking a balance between understeer and oversteer is key here, so for more advice check out our handy set-up guide.
Tip: avoid tyre-shredding understeer at all costs!
