Sony has announced that its PS VR2 headset will receive a price cut in March, considerably undercutting Meta’s Quest 3.

Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset is set to receive a price cut, with its recommended retail price slashed to $399.99 / €449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980.

The deal, which includes one PS VR2 Sense controller and stereo headphones, is available from March, with the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle offering even more value for money thanks to the addition of the Horizon series’ first VR game at no extra cost.

Sony releases new PC-compatible adapter for PS VR2

The PS VR2 became a viable sim racing headset last year with the release of the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter. Even though the PlayStation 5 had Gran Turismo 7’s superlative VR mode, there were few other racing options on the platform, so the opportunity to use the headset with PC VR titles was heralded as a turning point for the VR2.

The price change undercuts the similarly specced Meta Quest 3 headset, which starts from £469.99. Meta also offers a detuned version of its Quest 3, the Quest 3S (starting from £289.99), which represents a more accessible starting point for nascent VR users at the expense of ultimate performance.
