Fanatec now has a more complete direct drive sim racing wheel base range, with the rebirth of the ClubSport device. The ClubSport DD 12Nm is available to pre-order now with deliveries starting in early November, but there’s also the ClubSport DD+ due soon after.
Visually, the two bases are identical save for a hint of blue, as opposed to yellow, around the rear of the DD+. The DD’s power button glows red, the DD+’s blue. Crucially, on the inside, the DD+ can output 15Nm of ‘consistent’ force, up three on the DD.
It’s also PlayStation compatible, unlike the ‘plain’ DD (12Nm). That means it has a Sony-approved chip inside the base, but if you affix an Xbox-compatible wheel it will also work on Microsoft devices. So the DD+ has the ability to work on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Elsewhere, both new Clubsport devices utilise what Fanatec calls FullForce: Force Feedback 2.0, which is claimed to deliver super low-latency detail and effects calculated at 16,000Hz. The company also touts it as the ‘most thermally stable’ wheel base in its class.
What does that class entail? Well, that’s completely up to Fanatec, but over the past two years, several manufacturers such PXN, Moza Racing and Asetek SimSports have released products in this area. Of note, however, only Fanatec offers PS5 compatibility at this torque level.
