Yet another car has been confirmed for Genki’s reboot of Tokyo Xtreme Racer, and this time it’s the game’s first Subaru.
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C is set to join the Mazda RX-7, Toyota GR86, Toyota Supra RZ, Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 and Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V⋅spec II on the highways of Tokyo, with more cars still in the pipeline.
The Impreza was built as a Group N rally homologation special, featuring a close ratio gearbox, lighter body panels and a trick centre differential. Being JDM-spec, this Impreza produces a little more power than the Euro edition cars and also has an automatic water sprayer for its intercooler… nice.
However, the biggest news to come from Genki’s latest teaser trailer is the prospect of gameplay footage being shown, with a brief snippet showing the Impreza and RX-7 et al weaving in between expressway traffic at the dead of night. All things considered, TXR looks set to evoke the memories of its fondly remembered PlayStation 2-era editions.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer will be released on PC via Steam at some point in 2025.
