Following Kazunori Yamauchi’s traditional silhouette teaser last week, Polyphony Digital has detailed the contents of Gran Turismo 7’s August update (update 1.62).
Launching on 28th August, the summer update includes four new cars, plus an Extra Menu Book, three new race events and a new Scapes photo location.
Four new cars
- 2002 Renault Avantime 3.0 V6 24V (Brand Central / Used Cars)
- 2026 Afeela 1 (Brand Central)
- 2025 Chevrolet Corvette CX Concept (Brand Central)
- 2025 Chevrolet Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept (Brand Central)
This month’s Gran Turismo 7 update adds four new cars to the roster. It’s another eclectic mix, featuring a French oddity, an electric saloon and not one but two concept cars.

By far the most unusual addition is the Renault Avantime. Last seen in Gran Turismo 6, the Avantime is part people carrier, part convertible coupe. With its ungainly and quintessentially French styling, no wonder it was a colossal failure. And yet its quirkiness makes it a welcome addition to Gran Turismo 7, unlike the soulless SUVs in recent updates.
While it was also sold with a measly two-litre turbo four pot, Gran Turismo 7’s model is the punchier three-litre V6 variant.
Next up is the 2026 Afeela 1. Built in collaboration with Sony and Honda under the new Sony Honda Mobility brand, the Afeela is a sleek electric saloon set to enter production next year following the unveiling of a pre-production prototype last year.

Its inclusion in Gran Turismo 7 is puzzling, though, as you can already drive the Afeela Prototype 2024, which looks practically identical to its production counterpart.
Rounding off the new cars are two concepts: the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette CX and CX.R Vision GT. Officially unveiled by Chevrolet earlier this month, the road-going Corvette CX previews what the next-generation C9 could look like, incorporating a long, sloping roofline.

Powering the CX are four electric motors that combine to produce over 2,000 horsepower sent to all four wheels. Created for Gran Turismo, the track-focused Vision GT R version adopts a hybrid setup, combining the four electric motors with a twin-turbo V8.
All four cars can be purchased in their respective Brand Central dealerships. The Renault Avantine can also be found in the Used Cars dealership.

New GT Café Extra Menu Book, race events and Scape location
Alongside the four new cars, Gran Turismo 7’s August update also includes an Extra Menu Book. Requiring Collector Level 33, it requires you to collect three ‘Japanese Racing Pioneers.’ For virtual photographers, there is also a new Scapes photo location set in Tokyo Bay.

In addition, three new race events will be added to World Circuits:
- European Sunday Cup 400 – Circuit de Sainte-Croix – B Reverse
- Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 – Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta
- World Touring Car 900 – Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
Release date
Gran Turismo 7’s August update will launch on Thursday 27th August 11pm PT / 28th August 2am EST / 7am BST.
