Next Gran Turismo 7 update adds four cars, including Renault Avantime
The funky French curio will sit alongside the two Corvette CX Vision Gran Turismo cars and a saloon with LiDAR thought to be the 2026-specification Afeela.
We expect this to be on Thursday, 28th August – although an exact date is not yet confirmed.
What has been established is a four-car roster expansion, and we anticipate the formal unveiling on Wednesday, 27th. However, before then, allow us to speculate
Chevrolet Corvette CX and CX.R
The latest car manufacturer-created Vision Gran Turismo model showcases what a next-generation C9 Chevrolet Corvette could look like.
Like other notable VGT designs, it’s low, features an opening canopy (when not in-game) and has horsepower in the thousands.
The CX is more road-going and is all-electric, while the CX.R is a V8 hybrid and more track-focused.
Renault Avantime
Next up, a complete failure. In the 2000s, Renault had this great idea of merging a people carrier with a coupe. Which is a bit like combining a fork with a hammer.
The Avantime has two doors, four seats, but is also tall and ungainly. Power was either a creamy 3-litre V6 or a puny 2-litre turbo four-cylinder.

Funnily enough, it was about as popular as Betamax. But, I can’t help but think it’s achingly cool.
There’s something so avant-garde and intrinsically French about it, and at a time when many cars are homogeneous blobs, this is particularly pleasing. Let’s hope you can add a Super Agura F1 rear wing to it…
Afeela
The electric saloon, a joint venture between Honda and Sony, plus Polyphony Digital as a contributor, is already in Gran Turismo 7.
So, this seems a bit odd. This is the only car we aren’t confident with – the LiDAR box above the windscreen and the rear lights do point at the Afeela, however. So, if that’s the case, we must affirm that road-going production specification, as opposed to the prototype already in-game.
This latest game update follows Xiaomi’s SU7 and VGT, plus the Opel Corsa VGT announcements – although neither has made this update. The Opel should be here in September.
