The Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will enter the fifth of its six waves this Summer of 2023. On Wednesday (21st June) during a Nintendo Direct stream, select details about the next section of the DLC were provided.

While we don’t yet know the full scope of the upcoming Wave 5 of the DLC, we do know there will be new content coming in the form of three characters and a brand new Mario Kart circuit.

Squeaky Clean Sprint is the new course, and the setting seems to be some sort of washroom where the characters are all shrunken down.

This is, of course, just one of eight courses that will be included in the DLC, but the other seven, which likely will be ported from previous titles, are still to be announced.

In characters, there are three returning characters from previous games. Petey Piranha (last seen in Mario Kart: Double Dash) Wiggler (from Mario Kart DS) and Kamek (introduced in Mario Kart Tour) are all making their debut in the latest title.

This part of the DLC is due out this Summer of 2023, and with today being the first official day of Summer, it could be coming at any point over the next three months.

The Booster Course Pass has released four of the six projected waves so far. in 2022, Wave 1 released back on 18th March, Wave 2 was released on 4th August and Wave 3 was launched on 7th December. Wave 4 was the first of 2023 and released on 9th March. The sixth and final wave is set to release in December 2023.

The entire DLC comes in one piece and will set you back about £22.49/€24.99/$24.99. It is also included as a perk for those who have an active Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack Membership.
