Here’s everything you need to know about the motorcycle PC, PlayStation and Xbox racing video game Ride 5.
Overview
Ride 5 is a road-based motorcycle video game, where the aim is to pass licence tests, win races, earn cash and collect new and old real-world bikes.
This is done across an expansive single-player career mode with several race types, including lengthy endurance rounds, that features over 200 events across four ‘bundles’ plus ‘core’ and ‘secondary’ objectives.
Local split-screen and online multiplayer are available, alongside the ability to customise your very own rider. Bikes can be tuned, by purchasing upgraded parts, and their designs can be changed inside the livery editor.
The emphasis is on learning about, and collecting, some of the best and most historic motorcycles ever created.
Development team and series history
The fifth game in the series, Ride 5 is developed by the Italian team Milestone, which in turn is owned by PLAION, part of the Embracer Group.
The first Ride game was released in 2015, with sequels following soon after – although there has been a nearly three-year gap between Ride 4 and Ride 5.

What are the new features?
Within Ride 5, you will now be able to use the rewind feature and save in the middle of an endurance event, a significant improvement over Ride 4 where races could last up to 24 hours in length.
Dynamic weather has also been improved, returning from the previous game, it now features volumetric clouds, enhanced lighting and can be used throughout the various game modes and not just in endurance events.
The development team is said to have reworked the top speeds of the bikes, to better match their real-world counterparts. At the same time, the suspension and tyre systems have been revised and each category of motorcycle now has different lean angles.
The career mode now has a ‘rivals’ system, where 10-stand-out competitors will vie with you in duel events as you try to reach the top of a leaderboard. It will also feature narration for the first time,
Livery, helmet and sticker editors have been enhanced and the creations can now be shared cross-platform online. The aforementioned local split-screen multiplayer returns for the first time since Ride 2.
Single races are now classified under a ‘Race Creator’ which allows the player to set up further rule sets and custom championships. There is a larger suite of rider suites, this time set to be powered by AI.
Tracks and bikes
The full motorcycle and track list have yet to be revealed for Ride 5, but what we do know is that Sonoma in the USA and Autopolis in Japan make their series debuts, alongside some returning classics:

The same is true for the motorbikes included, we are far from a confirmed final list, but several models have been previewed so far, such as a new MV Agusta and the updated 2023 specification of BMW’s first-ever M-monikered motorcycle.

In total, there will be over 200 bikes and 35 circuits.
Is there cross-platform multiplayer?
Yes, Ride 5 will feature cross-platform multiplayer between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but not PC. On PC, those on Steam can play with those on Epic, but not console.
Online multiplayer supports up to 20 players and will include endurance events for the first time.
Release date, platforms and editions
The release date for Ride 5 is 24th August 2023 for PC (Steam and Epic), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In a surprise, it will only be launching on PC and the newer consoles. That means Ride 5 will not be releasing on the previous generation of consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Alongside the standard edition (available both digitally and physically on console), there will be a digital special edition that includes:
